Welcome to Sweden’s ultimate winter playground – endless pistes, air thick with pine and woodsmoke, Arctic après and plenty of flight deals.
Sweden might be known for its minimalism, but Scandinavian Mountains does excitement to the max. It’s the largest ski area in Northern Europe, with miles of groomed slopes and pine forests hiding thrilling snowmobile trails. If you’re looking for cheap flights and a workout, cross-country skiing is practically the national sport, with trails winding through snow-dusted wilderness. Or you can hop on a husky sled and let a team of eager pups do the hard work while you soak up the frosty fairytale views. If a full-on day of ice karting (like go-karting, but with more sliding and less grip), followed by a romantic evening of stargazing is your idea of perfect, you’re in luck, with direct flights to Scandinavian Mountains now available.
Worked up an appetite? Head for the tavernas and top-notch restaurants of Sälen and Trysil. Whether you’re a seasoned foodie chasing White Guide eateries or simply want something tasty after a day on the slopes, here you’ll find hearty meals, regional flavours, and the kind of fresh, locally sourced ingredients that’ll have you starving for seconds.
The destination offers a total of 225 km of slopes. This is distributed among the resorts as follows: Trysil (81 km), Stöten (42 km), Lindvallen (30 km), Hundfjället (25 km), Kläppen (23 km), Tandådalen (20 km), and Högfjället (4 km). The region is considered the world’s fourth-largest ski destination, based on the number of ski days.
You'll find a wide variety of slopes, ranging from green, blue, and red to black runs. Even beginners will have a good selection of suitable slopes to enjoy.
Yes, ski schools are available at all skill levels for both adults and children. Every ski resort offers instruction, including both group lessons and private instruction.
You can rent all necessary equipment at every resort, including skis, boots, poles, snowboards, and helmets. You only need to bring your own ski clothing, suitable for the Nordic climate. Numerous shops are also available if you wish to purchase clothing or gear.
Yes, most ski resorts offer a wide range of activities. These can include dogsled safaris, snowshoeing, snowmobile tours, and Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) expeditions, as well as cross-country skiing, ice fishing, and ice skating.
There are several hotels and Ski Lodges with all necessary amenities located right next to the slopes. Many of these offer both hotel rooms and larger apartments, specially designed for families. You can also rent cabins with ski-in/ski-out access.
The nearest Ski Lodge is only 10 minutes away by transfer bus, and all resorts are within a one-hour transfer. Please ensure you pre-book your bus transfer, rental car, or taxi.
All hotels and Ski Lodges are located close to the ski slopes, so you will not need a car during your stay unless you want to explore the wider area. A free ski bus (with a valid SkiPass) also runs all day and into the evenings.
The currency is the Swedish Krona (SEK) in Sweden and the Norwegian Krone (NOK) in Norway. Payments are almost always made by debit or credit card, as most businesses do not accept cash.
