easyJet Celebrates 25 Years of Listing on the London Stock Exchange
easyJet plc has proudly marked the 25th anniversary of its listing on the London Stock Exchange, a milestone that reflects a quarter-century of growth, innovation, and commitment to making travel easy and affordable for millions of customers across Europe.
To commemorate the occasion, easyJet’s Chair Sir Stephen Hester, CEO Kenton Jarvis and members of the board joined representatives from the London Stock Exchange for a market opening ceremony.
The milestone comes as easyJet celebrates its 30th year, having launched its first ever flight on 10 November 1995 from London Luton to Glasgow.
Just five years later, on 22 November 2000, easyJet floated on the London Stock Exchange and has since cemented its position as one of Europe’s leading airlines.
Kenton Jarvis, easyJet CEO commented:
“Our listing on the London Stock Exchange was a pivotal moment in easyJet’s journey. It enabled us to grow from a disruptive start-up into one of Europe’s most loved airlines. As well as being listed in the UK, we are the largest UK airline with half of our fleet and 12,000 employees based here.
“Very few companies remain as close to their roots as easyJet and as we celebrate this milestone, in our 30th year our mission remains to make flying easy and deliver value for our customers and shareholders, while driving innovation and sustainability for the future.”
Over the past three decades, the airline has evolved from being the original challenger brand to a high-flying success story.
Today, easyJet annually flies 50 million customers to and from and within the UK alone and around 100 million in total across Europe, meaning the airline has carried around 1.2bn customers in total since launching - almost twice the entire population of Europe.
The airline now operates a fleet of 356 aircraft and has a further 290 modern and more fuel-efficient Airbus A320 family NEO aircraft being delivered up to 2034. The new aircraft will provide further growth opportunities and continue the modernisation of the easyJet fleet, deliver between a 13% to 30% unit fuel burn efficiency improvement and half the noise footprint of the older aircraft they are replacing, bringing both operating cost and sustainability improvements.
Over the last 30 years, the airline has contributed materially to UK connectivity growth, building a distinctive network offering frequent, convenient flights from the UK and Europe’s major airports, directly creating more choice, connectivity and competitive fares for consumers.
easyJet now has 33 bases and continues to grow its unrivalled short-haul network with new bases at Newcastle and its first ever African base in Marrakech both opening in spring 2026. The airline now operates on over 1200 routes to 150 destinations across 38 countries in Europe and North Africa, providing connectivity not just for holidaymakers, but mobility for students, businesspeople and workers and access to European markets for UK SMEs and exporters.
easyJet holidays, which was launched in 2019, is now the UK’s fastest growing package holiday company. In recent years it has expanded into Switzerland, Germany, and France and recently launched a new Luxury Collection, strengthening its position as a leader in both value and luxury travel.
