Aira app - new service for blind and low vision travellers

At London Gatwick airport, they are trialling using the Aira app. Blind and visually impaired customers can now get free 24/7 help via the camera on their mobile phone.
Professionally trained agents now guide customers through the airport, help them read documents or even find their bag on the luggage carousel. The system is being trialled until September to improve accessibility for blind or partially sighted passengers.

3. Departures

All easyJet flights now depart from Level 1, Gatwick North Terminal.

- Domestic flights depart from gates 55A-H in the North Terminal

- International flights departing from the North Terminal depart from all remaining gates across piers 4 , 5 and 6. Distance to gates varies from 5 to 15 minute walk.

Arriving at London Gatwick Airport

- All arriving passengers will go through passport control, with the exception of domestic passengers who can go direct to baggage reclaim.

- The terminal of arrival may not match that of your departure or on your boarding pass. If your arrival will be to the other terminal, an announcement will be made prior to disembarking and all information screens will be in arrivals for those meeting you from your flight.

A few useful tips

- Gatwick is a silent airport, therefore no announcements will be made, so please look at the flight information screens.

- The North Terminal has limited shops/restaurants prior to security checks.

- Both terminals have restaurants and shops after security.

- At both terminals you may board by an air-bridge or steps to the aircraft or by a coach.

- Passengers aged 12-17 who are accompanied by an adult, can now use the ePassport gates upon arrival at London Gatwick Airport.

For more detailed information on the airport please check the terminal map.
