Izmir is beautiful in spring, with mild temperatures, lower prices and sleepier beaches. Come in the height of summer, though, for the warmest days and a guaranteed suntan. June, July and August are especially lively, and the restaurants and bars are at their most atmospheric, plus street performers and markets are in full swing.
Avoid the crowds
Izmir is prime holiday territory from June to September, when the tourists flock to the sandy beaches, bars and restaurants and take advantage of the warm, sunny climate. Avoid these months if you like things quieter. April, May, September and October can also be really mild, but are much cheaper and the top sights are less crowded.
