There’s no airport in Liechtenstein, so visitors need to fly through nearby airports in Zurich, Switzerland or Innsbruck, Austria. If you book a flight to Zurich, you can choose to hire a car and drive, or take a train from Zurich to Sargans and then a bus to Liechtenstein. If you fly to Innsbruck, you can also choose to hire a car, or take a train to Feldkirch followed by a bus to Liechtenstein. Whichever way you choose to travel, expect to see beautiful views along the way, and for the journey to take two and a half to three hours.
Above all, Liechtenstein is an outdoor destination. Its position in one of the most beautiful areas of the alps means that when you visit, you’ll be able to take advantage of some of the best hiking Europe (and the world) has to offer, as well as other adventure sports like rock climbing or paragliding. Visit in winter to experience a completely different side of Liechtenstein, when the entire country turns into a picturesque winter wonderland. Hit the slopes at Malbun ski resort, one of the best downhill skiing destinations in the alps, or try out Nordic skiing at the Steg cross-country ski resort. If you’re looking for culture, spend some time enjoying Vaduz, the capital city, where you’ll find the beautiful 12th century Vaduz Castle, along with some fascinating museums and charming restaurants.
