The best beach on the Amalfi Coast
Bigger brother to neighbouring Minori, substantial Maiori is a pretty village on the Amalfi Coast. As fitting for a bigger sibling, Maiori has grabbed the lion's share of the beach. Opening up like a fan from the Lungomare Amendola (the seafront promenade), the strand is considered to be the nicest and largest beach on the Amalfi Coast. Named after the Reginna Maior River which burst its banks in 1954 and destroyed much of the ancient town. Subsequently rebuilt, Maiori has a more modern look than its neighbours. While the main focus of your holiday to Maiori should definitely be relaxing on the beach, you can easily stroll to the 6th century Sanctuary of Santa Maria to stretch your legs. Then it's on to your choice of lively restaurants and terraced bars. What more could you want?
