"We recently stayed at Leonardo Hotel Glasgow and had a really great experience until it came to sleeping.
We arrived early and were pleasantly surprised that the room was ready. Not only that, but we were given early access, access to the executive lounge (which was stocked with soft drinks and light snacks), and a late 2pm checkout — which was a lovely touch and very much appreciated.
The location is excellent. We parked at Q-Park Jamaica Street, which is literally across the road from the hotel, making arrival and departure really convenient.
The hotel itself is modern, spotless, and smells amazing — there are air fresheners throughout that give all areas a fresh, clean scent. The bedroom was large with a super king bed and a stunning view from a lovely corner window, which really added to the stay. The room was very well equipped with bottled water, a coffee machine, tea and coffee facilities, an iron and ironing board, and even slippers — all thoughtful touches that made it feel more luxurious. The bathroom was equally impressive, stocked with shower caps, toothpaste, a toothbrush, vanity kits, and beautiful lotions and soaps.
One additional disappointment was the bar service. The staff were overly talkative with each other and seemed more focused on chatting amongst themselves than serving guests. We were left sitting with empty drinks and had to say “excuse me” several times before being acknowledged, as they continued their conversation. It didn’t feel particularly attentive or professional.
Unfortunately, the biggest downfall was the noise. The heating system was extremely loud — even when turned off it made clunking and hissing noises that startled us throughout the night. On top of that, the sound from the trains was horrific. At times it genuinely sounded like a passenger jet was taking off at the bottom of the bed. As a result, we didn’t get any sleep whatsoever.
I am due to return in September with a friend in a twin room and would genuinely appreciate confirmation from management as to whether there are rooms not affected by the train noise or the heating system issues. I would much prefer to keep my booking, as this is one of the better hotels we’ve stayed at in Glasgow, but a good night’s sleep is essential. Without reassurance that this can be addressed, I will unfortunately have to cancel."
