H10 Playa Esmeralda

"We visited the H10 Esmeralda at the beginning of December for the first time. I contacted reception to request a room for easy access to the beach as both myself and my husband run and walk, we did not want to walk through reception or use the lift sweaty and covered in sand. We were given a room away from the main hotel block which was absolutely perfect for us. We have already booked to return next year and really hope we can have the same room or one close by. As we were staying for so many weeks I requested extra coathangers which were delivered to our room. Check in was quick and easy but we were the only couple at the desk, reception staff were friendly and helpful. We were shown to our room by a porter who was informative and again very friendly. The room was very clean and remained so during our visit by the very good housekeeping team. The hotel is easy to navigate, the lifts are fairly prompt plus there is the alternative of using the stairs which as we were on level 1 it was quite a workout to get up to the level 5 bar, another reason to reward ourselves with a G&T! The barstaff were really efficient and again friendly and happy. Our drink preference was noted by the manager and other staff so would be prepared quickly for us. The food served for all meals was hot and even hot plates provided, sometimes to hot to hold, but really appreciated. There was constant monitoring of the food provided and was quickly replenished as a choice ran low. The dining room staff work incredibly hard but they don't let it affect their service to you, we watch one particular client being difficult but she was handled with smiles and reassuring comments. We did eat at the Italian restaurant but were disappointed with our last meal there, a bread roll was served to the table which looked baked on top but was actually raw plus bread sticks offered had been opened by another guest who had eaten part of the pack. This was a lack of attention to detail I feel. Something we would have liked would be a spicy offering in the main restaurant, ie chilli or curry as the flavour of most food was mild. The entertainment was ok, the poolbar entertainment could be improved if there was a waterproof roof to protect both guests and entertainers. However, because of the fabulous beach for our training and walks plus the incredibly kind helpful happy staff who are a credit to the H10 Esmeralda we are returning. We were staying for 21 nights"

"This is a very large hotel but coped admirally with the numbers most of whom came from Germany. Our room was beautifully furnished with a lovely sea view The lovely sandy beach was only a sort walk down from the hotel itself and swimming was easy in the gentle waves The hotel boasts an extremely large pool area and sunbeds were easy to find probably because most guests made their way to the beach The restaurant was impressive and sitting outside on the veranda at breakfast was a joy The food choice was very good but just short of outstanding The staff were superb and worked very hard We enjoyed the evening entertainment very much We stayed on a half board basis but all inclusive was available if required This lovely hotel would receive 5 stars except from its location There are no shops or bars nearby Indeed the only Spar shop was 20 minutes walk away. There is no local bus services or any buses run from the hotel so you were basically reliant on the Hotel facilities In conclusion we had lovely weather and enjoyed the Sandy beach and the hotel facilities but missed the alternative to explore the area ."

"We stayed here as Privelage guests which gives you access to an Italian and privilege restaurant for breakfast and evening meal both restaurants served very nice food with daily specials.The buffet was not bad for lunch did the job tho I couldn't eat there everyday. PAY THE EXTRA AND GO PRIVILEGE. drinks were good premium brands and a mini bar in the room.We stayed in 1216 2nd floor with a great sunrise view in the morning and very quiet away from the noise.The room was clean and modern coffee machine hairdryer but no irons.Its a very quiet hotel they said it was busy but felt like 50% full lots of room around the pool.The beach is a short walk thru the back of the hotel nice and sandy and you can stroll along it no problem.Lots of nudists if thats your thing.If you are 45 to say 70 this is a good hotel to get a tan lay on a sunbed all day and chill..We enjoyed it as thats what we like to do.Temps from 3rd Dec were 70s to 75 blue sky with a few clouds chilly when the wind gets up so bring something to wear like a cardigan in case .We would definitley recommend the hotel for 1 week ..2 weeks would be a bit much.especially if you weren't a PRIVILEGE guest."
