"We stayed at BLUESEA Bahia de Lobos 27/02 - 06/03 travelling as four generations – four adults (82, 58, 38 & 35) and two little ones aged 1 and 2 – on an all inclusive stay. We were in rooms 1118 and 1122.
Unfortunately the weather didn’t play ball during our trip, with temperatures being quite poor for the time of year, so we didn’t really get to utilise the pools during our stay. That said, we love Corralejo and it definitely wouldn’t stop us returning to the area.
Cons :(all things that would be fairly easy to improve)
We had paid extra for pool view terrace rooms, however both rooms were tucked down in a hollow at the back facing the quiet pool area and definitely didn’t have a real pool view. This was disappointing considering the upgrade.
Room 1122 had the sofa bed set up for our 2 year old but it was in a V shape and completely unsuitable for sleeping on. The main beds in both rooms were also extremely firm – almost brick like.
The shower drainage in both rooms was also poor, with the bathroom floor flooding after most showers.
One concern when travelling with small children was the door security. The rooms use electronic key cards but there is no internal lock or latch. Our toddlers could easily pull the handle and open the door themselves, so we ended up placing a chair against the door .
Food and drinks were probably the biggest let down. There was very little choice for children. One day “chicken nuggets” were on offer but the meat inside was brown and clearly not chicken.
For adults the food became very repetitive, often only barely warm, and the snack options were limited to hot dogs or pre packed sandwiches. It would be great if the pool bar allowed simple options like ordering a fresh sandwich or grabbing snacks such as crisps.
The alcoholic drinks were also disappointing (beer being the exception). No cider at all, wine tasted very vinegary, and cocktails were more like very sweet cordial.
For families with small children, some simple additions would make a huge difference – things like individual porridge packets (so parents can make it to the right consistency), Weetabix, cocktail sausages, plain chicken breast or good quality goujons.
Pros:
Check in was quick and easy. We arrived around 12 noon (check in is 3pm) but the hotel kindly had one of our rooms ready which helped massively with tired kids and an elderly family member.
The sofa bed issue was resolved quickly with housekeeping bringing in an extra single bed so we could make a triple setup.
When we mentioned the hard beds, mattress toppers were delivered, which did improve the comfort.
The staff were a real highlight. Almost everyone was exceptionally friendly and great with our kids – always high fives and interaction. Our dinosaur obsessed 2 year old especially loved Jurassic Park Day.
Housekeeping were also excellent – rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels and beds made.
Although the overall food could improve, the fresh omelette station every morning was fantastic.
Other positives worth mentioning:
•Free WiFi was excellent
•Free in-room safe (rare in Corralejo hotels in our experience)
•Air conditioning/heating in the rooms – great as we could warm the room for bedtime during the cooler weather
•Great location only a short walk to the main strip, shops and restaurants
Some reviews complain about the pool bar cup deposit system, but this didn’t bother us at all. We’d much rather a small deposit than using disposable cups all day.
Overall
There are definitely a few areas that need improvement – mainly food quality, drink options, room description accuracy and adding an internal door latch for safety.
However the staff were fantastic, issues we raised were dealt with quickly, and the location is excellent.
We would definitely return, especially if these small issues were addressed. If staying again we would request Block A or Block L, as these looked to have the best views over both pool areas."
