"Having stayed at other Barcelo properties in the Canary Islands before, my wife and I chose to stay at this hotel for Christmas.
We usually choose “adults only” if the option exists in a given location.
The hotel itself is about 45-60 minutes transfer from the airport.
The hotel, is only about 200m from the sea but you can’t see the sea/coast, until you go down one of the side roads, towards the beach.
The lobby is impressive and spotlessly clean. As it was Christmas, there were two Christmas trees and other tasteful decorations. We were checked in swiftly and made our way to our room. We had booked one of the suites, these were at the corners of each block and are over twice the size, of the standard room. It had a large separate living room and was separated by a door, to the bedroom. The balcony, was also about 3 times length, of a standard room and had a jacuzzi & 2 sun beds. At the other end of the balcony was a table an 2 chairs. The room has effective AC with separate controls for the living area & the bedroom.
There was ample storage, 2 TV’s, a fridge, 8 USB sockets. Unfortunately there is a charge for the room safe, which I feel is unnecessary penny pinching, by the hotel.
You are provided with 2x 330ml of water a day. This again is unnecessarily “stingy” by the Barcelo group.
The gym at the hotel is a mixed bag. It is a decent sized room but it has no air conditioning. The ceiling fans present show the age of the property. The gym has 2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals and 4 bikes these are all modern and up to date. There is a separate studio with some spin bikes in it. There are some multifunctional cable machines for strength conditioning.
The dumbbells and free weights in general are dated. There is a smith machine, which also looks old. There are no full sized barbells or weight plates over 5kg. There is a water fountain but no cups are provided.
The restaurant is located beneath reception. The staff are friendly and professional. Tables, empty plates are cleared swiftly. The food was varied and tasty, plates were heated, pastries and bread were fresh. The fruit juices were not watered down unlike some hotels. My wife is a vegetarian and found something suitable each day. The chefs will make you something specific if you ask. One improvement would be access to a microwave, so guests could heat up their food. I have seen this at other Barcelo properties.
The hotel made great efforts to celebrate the Christmas period and I must congratulate them on this. During breakfast on the run up to Christmas Day , there was a harpist, violinist and pianist playing wonderfully music, Bravo !
The evening entertainment is also of a good standard, for us however, it started a little too late at 9pm, as we rise early.
Overall, if you’re over 50 and want a quiet, relaxing break in Corralejo, in a clean contemporary environment, immediately put this hotel, on your shortlist.
We would not hesitate, to stay here again."
