Scandic Ishavshotel

"This is the equivalent of a Travelodge/ibis hotel in terms of cleanliness, quality, room amenities, but the room price is multiplied by 5 !! We paid 430euro for one night in a very basic, bare room with a dirty carpet. Granted there are no luxury options in Tromso but this is too expensive for what it offers. Views are nice and breakfast is ok (but again added on instead of included)."

"Located right on the waterfront in Central Tromso- very easy access to restaurants, shops, buses and tours. Very impressive breakfast buffer daily. Rooms relatively small- but on our last night we could actually see the northern lights looking out our window (will attach picture). Very convenient base for northern lights adventures and exploring Tromso."

"Fantastic location on the waterfront, we were able to see the northern lights from our room. We travelled as a family so used the pull down bunk beds. The room was small but functional, we stored our unused cases under the beds to provide some extra storage. Hotel staff were friendly and welcoming, breakfast staff were great at remembering you and the excursions you had planned which wasn’t expected. Breakfast was excellent, a great selection of food for all tastes. They let you make a pack up for your day and provide packaging for a small fee per person which you can pay as you leave the breakfast area. Once we realised it was chargeable we decided to stock up at the Kiwi super market just up the hill and make use of the fridge in our room. We brought some ziplock bags from home so this worked well for us. The hotel was very warm inside so I would recommend bringing some lighter gear to wear around breakfast and to and from your room. The view of the fjellheisen from breakfast was amazing, we did not get bored looking out. We could also see the big cruise ships and cool tall ships that stopped off between trips. Great location, amazing views, friendly staff and great breakfast."
