"What a hotel! Authentic, clean, amazing staff and so close to St Marks square! We arrived by Water taxi (privately booked), were directed to the alley from the river and could not believe how close it was. On arrival we paid the tourist tax (very reasonable!) and were shown to our room. The 15th Century building has been restored tastefully and authentically from the material walls to the Murano light fittings and gorgeous shutters.
We were given a key to the hotel as well as our room and shown where the breakfast room was.
As a traveller party of 3 we had a perfect spacious room; double bed with side room off with the comfiest sofa bed I’ve ever slept on! The sheets were changed after two days which was unbelievable!
The bathroom was perfect size and had everything we needed, the toiletries were a nice touch.
The fridge in the room came in handy too and they offer water for €2 per bottle which is very fair.
The breakfast was Continental and had everything needed; cereal, fruit, cheese, ham, toast, fresh rolls, yoghurts, could eggs and the staff made hot drinks on request. Perfect start to the day!
As you walk out of the hotel there is a bakery opposite which is lovely and always busy. To the left is a little square with amazing eateries (also reasonable), shops and bars. If you go left into the square and left through the shops, follow the footpath over the bridge you can be in St Marks square in 5 minutes!
As we were leaving early on departure day, we spoke to staff who arranged a basket of croissants and a bag of biscuits for the night before our departure.
Marcella is great and helped us with advice on arranging local transport while we were visiting and directions, her staff are phenomenal as well.
We will definitely be returning."
