Etna

"It's a very quirky hotel, overlooked by the brooding volcano behind. The atmosphere owes a lot to the history of the site, upcycling and exhibiting machinery and objects used there. There are a variety of room types, and we were in a ground floor room by the pool. The breakfast was continental supplemented by local produce and bakeries, especially the home made jams and yogurts! The pool area was clean and well kept. Plenty of sunbeds and a covered lounge area, with an afternoon pool bar. Giarre itself is a 20 minute walk with a good rail link. The local village is unremarkable with few bars and eateries. It was a good location as a base for exploring Etna and surrounding locations. Having a car or driver, or being part of a travelling group adds to the value of this gem of a hotel."

"It is very nice place to be, everything was clean and in good shape, the swimmingpool was perfect, and breakfast and diner where excellent. A compliment for everyone how works there!"

"Etna Hotel is a lovely old Sicilian country house with stunning views of Mount Etna. Rooms are spacious, air-conditioned, and very comfortable. The staff are friendly, helpful, and always attentive. The hotel also arranges volcano tours on certain days, which are well worth doing. The main downside is the location—you’ll need a car to really enjoy the area. The hotel can arrange car hire or taxis into Giarre, but walking isn’t ideal. Dining nearby is limited; the closest option is the Volcano Pub up the road, though the walk there can feel a bit hair-raising. Overall, highly recommended for the incredible views and excellent service."
