Valadier

"Located on a side street near the piazza and around the corner from the shopping street it has a street level restaurant Brillo and a piano bar, and gelato shop. The taxi stand was a short walk. The staff was accommodating and helpful Enter from the street to a short flight of stairs down to the small lobby. There is a lounge to the left and entrance to the bar. Throughout the hotel are black shiny floors, black walls, mirrors and mysterious sets of stairs. Everywhere you turn there are black stairs. The halls are narrow and black. Dim lighting gives a sensual ambiance. It goes well with the burlesque show in the late evening at the piano bar. We stayed pre and post cruise - 2 nights each time in a standard room. Our companions had larger rooms. All were quite pricey. Our first room was octagonal shaped, double bed and small enough to touch the walls from the bed. There was barely room to open the suitcase except on the bed. There was nowhere to put anything. The second stay was slightly larger with a wall of mirrors and a mirrored ceiling. There was an alcove for the luggage but nowhere to hang towels except on hangers. At least we could walk around the bed. Lighting was also an issue as the floors were black and the ceiling light was not working. Breakfast was excellent on the top floor with a great city view. Again you had to climb black stairs to get there. It was served until 10:30 am which was great if you had stayed out late at the show. Overall the hotel was not a good fit for us. Much too expensive and the size, stairs, and darkness was not my style. (I didn’t pick it). Of a group of 7, only one couple would recommend it."

"We recently stayed in Hotel Valadier for 3 nights. The trip was a girls trip for a friends 40th and we booked via EasyJet Holidays. We were initially booked in a different hotel which became unavailable, with EasyJet moving our booking to Valadier. And we were not disappointed. The hotel is stunning. Our room was on the 5th floor though we had to go along some corridors and down some stairs to get to it - we assume the next door building was maybe purchased at some point and they’re not entirely joined up. However, this was never an issue and on arrival the porter delivered our large, heavy suitcases to us. The room was bright, fresh and airy with a very welcome air conditioning unit. We had complimentary water on arrival and access to a mini bar in the room which we chose not to use other than to store our own water. The complimentary water must only have been on arrival as this was never replaced daily with housekeeping. Only small negative was that despite our room being a triple there were only 2 waters on arrival. We had also requested ahead of time, and paid for, Prosecco for the birthday girl - there were also only 2 glasses in the room. But after mentioning this, we were given the extra. Breakfast is served on the roof terrace and this is absolutely stunning. A stylish space, a great choice of delicious food and an excellent way to start the day. We also spent an evening on the terrace with cocktails - thoroughly enjoyed the ‘shall we dance’. We spent most afternoons between our sightseeing and getting ready to go back out, at the wee bar outside, next door to the hotel. We were given a 10% discount there as hotel residents. The hotel is super close to the Spanish Steps, and despite how it looks on the maps is also walking distance to many attractions including Trevi Fountain, Victor and Emanuele monument etc. We walked to the Colusseum easily too even in the high 30s °C heat."
