A COMPACT CITY BRIMMING WITH CHARM
Nestled at the southern tip of the lake and surrounded by tree-lined mountains, Como is a small and picturesque city with plenty of history.
Established by Julius Caesar in the 1st century BC, it combines dreamy lake views with medieval, red-roofed architecture, an impressive cathedral, Roman basilicas, and a large amphitheatre.
If that wasn’t enough, there’s an atmospheric old town with 12th-century fortress walls, grand palaces, quirky museums, hiking routes, and a fantastic selection of restaurants serving up authentic regional food.

Your Como questions, answered
Like the other resorts in the area, Como does have a reputation for being expensive. However, the city is larger than the other lakeside resorts, and as such has many mid-range dining options available. You’ll also find a handful of inexpensive eateries further away from the lake, and public transport is reasonably priced.
