Mykonos on easy mode
If you like your Mykonos with more barefoot beach time and less 4am club queues, Kalafatis is your spot. Wrapped around a long, sandy bay on the quieter side of the island, it swaps full-on party mode for big skies, clear water and easygoing days. The beach is the headline act: a gorgeous sweep of sand with sunbeds, tavernas and that famous Mykonian light bouncing off the Aegean. A steady breeze keeps things feeling fresh, and you’ll still see plenty of surfers and sailors making the most of it. It’s the kind of place where the main decision is “sunbed now, or swim first?”
Days here are happily simple. Start with a morning swim, wander up for coffee and fresh pastries, then slide into a long lunch in a seafront taverna where the catch of the day and Greek salads do the heavy lifting. When you want to mix it up, nearby beaches like Kalo Livadi and Elia are just a short drive away, so you can chase calmer water or a different vibe. You can also take a little coastal wander, stopping at viewpoints for those big blue horizon photos.
Mykonos Town is close enough for whitewashed-lane wandering, sunset bars and nightlife when you fancy it, but far enough that Kalafatis still feels calm when you retreat back to your accommodation. Pop into town for boutique browsing and Little Venice people-watching, then head back for a quieter dinner by the sea. If your dream Mykonos mix is sea, good food and actual chill time, Kalafatis quietly nails the brief. And when the stars come out, it’s properly peaceful here.
