Astra Village and Suites

"Booked a premium suite direct on the Hotels website. Booking direct gives you a free safe and free air-conditioning. Arrived late (c11pm) and we were given a studio comfort plus with sea/mountain view. The room itself was fine but it didn’t have a renovated bathroom with walk-in waterfall shower. The night porter wasn’t very helpful and said we would need to speak to reception in the morning. Reception advised it was an upgrade. The studio had cooking facilities etc however we didn’t need these so I asked if we could be changed back to the room we booked. Went back after breakfast and they had allocated room 11 for us. It’s a lovely premium suite on the ground floor which overlooks the main pool and has a sea/Mountain View. We couldn’t fault anything about this room. Breakfast was fine. The sausages/bacon weren’t like the UK but then we weren’t in the UK. Choice of cereals, juice, fruits, cheese, ham and hot selection with tea/coffee. The toaster is the best hotel toaster I’ve had. The rooms are cleaned daily except Sunday and the complex overall is kept very clean and tidy. The real fruit strawberry smoothies at the pool bar are amazing. Had a drink most nights in the Hotel Bar. It has TVs for sport and the barmen are very nice and helpful. Astra is in a fantastic location in the heart of koutouloufari and all the restaurants we tried were really good. We will definitely return to Astra and Koutouloufari. It’s such a lovely village with friendly people and amazing restaurants."

"I write this from the Astra Village, in September 2025. We came here in September 2024, so you can tell we like it. Koutouloufari is amazing...so quaint, but with a great buzz about it ..so laid back, welcoming, safe, and of course you are spoilt for choice with amaizng places to eat and drink. Last time we were in room 31, a pool and sea view suite on the second floor, this time we're Imin room 25, which is basically the same room with the same view, but on the first floor. Suites are refurbished to a modern and high standard. The pool is still fine, with no sunbed wars, and no early morning rush, in fact we were always the first out to get beds and that was at around 9am. There are beds available practically all day, but if you wanted a particular one, best get there before 10am perhaps. Sunbeds would massively benefit from cushions as they're not exactly comfortable. Being Greece they do allow smoking in the the bar and restaurant, and around the pool, but we just have to accept that...it's all pretty open and not too bad really. Breakfast is nice, with hot and cold selections of good quality, fresh products. The Astra is central to everything but very peaceful around the bottom of the two pools (the top pool is ostensibly adults only, but in September there are practically no kids in Koutouloufari, it's not that sort of resort). Air con is €10 a day, and you can hire a safety deposit box if you like (if you book direct with the hotel, those things are included). A welcome pack in each room would be useful...we didn't realise that the towels weren't replaced daily, so some form of pack would be good. The rooms are cleaned daily however (except sundays). Overall, another great visit, and would highly recommend."

"Just back from a week here. We booked as reviews were good. The accommodation is looking a bit dated and warn. There was no tap in our sink in kitchen, so only way to access water was from bathroom sink. When we arrived the young lad on reception could not help with cases we were told as he had a bad arm? So we struggled a bit navigating a lot of steps to roomas my husband has carpal tunnel in both hands. On first morning after showering I noticed a cockroach 🪳 on my husbands bed and cockroach poo! We went to reception and the older lady who seemed to be in charge refused to move us making out that she couldn’t understand us and there were no rooms available. She did however offer to spray our room leaving our belongings in it and expecting us to to still use the room. I explained my husband has respiratory issues and still no offer of room change. We then felt we had to call Tui our tour operator who the lady on reception again said she had no contact numbers for. After a call to home with Georgia who followed up with an email we were then offered another room after an hour or so. We were then shown to another room to check we were happy with it. The whole situation left us frustrated and ignored even with very legitimate complaint on our much look forward to holiday. Breakfast was ok toast cake fruit yoghurt fried food croissant juice tea and or coffee buffet style. Manos and cleaning ladies are lovely and do a good job. Unfortunately I was ill and needed a Dr and whilst awaiting the taxi was asked at reception if we’d like to change rooms as they needed ours the next day! We weren’t due to leave room until 11 next day and were being asked to move at teatime Saturday when I was very poorly. So no concern really for poorly customer just thinking of convenience for them. We moved next morning to room underneath our original. We’ve stayed in Piskapiano and Koutouloufari for 10 years and Elounda for 2 years before that. Sadly this is the worst customer care we’ve experienced and the first cockroach. Unfortunately where there is one cockroach there are others. Sorry Astra you fell down and we won’t be returning ever."
