"Unfortunately, our stay did not meet expectations. Upon arrival, we were informed that we were being "upgraded" to a different hotel up the road. While this was described as a complimentary upgrade, we did not book the Evina Hotel—we specifically chose the Erato Hotel. The change was made without our consent or prior communication, and we felt as though we were being pushed aside rather than accommodated. It also felt like we couldn't question it and the decision had already been made for us. Aside from that the room was clean and cleaned regularly by the cleaners which was appreciated. However, The room itself was underwhelming. The beds were two singles pushed together rather than a proper double, which made sleeping uncomfortable as they constantly separated during the night. Additionally, the photos online were different, our room was dark and dingy with no windows as we were in the middle of two other rooms, particularly as we were no longer staying at the hotel we originally booked, all the facilitieswere then at the erato hotel down the road which is inconvenient. There were no provisions for basic amenities such as drinking water. While we were aware before coming to greece that tap water isn't drinkable, guests are expected to purchase bottled water from a shop down the road. There is no water refill station, and we were even reprimanded for bringing our own bottle of water to dinner the reason being that the manager wouldn't like it apparently, which felt unreasonable, especially considering we had paid nearly £600 each for a half-board stay. Some eople are not in a position to buy drinks every single night and constantly being asked if we wanted drinks multiple times during dinner created an uncomfortable dining experience, making us want to leave as soon as we were done eating. Food options were decent for my partner, but I have a milk allergy and found the options very limited despite emailing in advance to confirm dietary accommodations, i was just told there would be options, not realising it was basically just slightly different rice and vegetables every night for 9 nights. Breakfast was exactly the same every day for 10 days, which became quite monotonous. The quality of fruit—especially the melon—was often poor, as it seemed to have been left out too long and had become mushy. I was also told via email that I could bring my own dairy-free milk for breakfast, which I was happy to do so that i vould have cereal and hot drinks, but when I arrived at the restaurant with it, I was told this was not allowed (again was told the manager wouldn't like it). This contradiction clearly reflects a lack of communication between staff and further limited my already restricted breakfast options. The pool itself looked smaller than the photos suggest—clearly taken at the most flattering angle possible. Because we were housed in a different building, we had to walk down the road in swimwear to access the pool, which felt uncomfortable and discouraged us from using it. The sun loungers are also situated in a way that doesn’t offer any privacy, making it hard to relax. Overall, the experience was okay but did not reflect the value of what we paid. The lack of communication, misleading hotel switch, limited dietary support, and overall atmosphere made it feel like a place to eat and leave—not somewhere to relax and enjoy a holiday. Location wise the hotel is good for getting to and from places as it runs along the main bus stop line. However we would unfortunately not return and wouldn't recommend it to others."
