Miramare Resort and Spa

"My wife and I arrived at the Miramare late in the evening and was told by the night manager the room was an annexe to the hotel, down two flights of stairs with no lift or banisters to cope with the steps. The room had a sideview of the sea with a road running up the side of the building which allowed delivery and coaches to get to the reception. After being provided with a bowl of warm soup and a piece of bread we were shown a room for the night and told that an alternative would be offered the next morning. Following breakfast we went to reception and the day manageress informed us that as the hotel was full we would have to wait a couple of days before an alternative room would be available, this did not materialize over the next few days. After continually nagging the management we were shown several apartments on different levels of the complex none of which had walk in showers in the bathroom and could only be reached by ordering a golf buggy vehicle from reception to collect us and take us to the restaurants and obviously not ideal. We eventually secured a room that was more suitable and began to explore the local surroundings. A sandy beach was about a fifteen minute walk, it was clean and sandy with a drinks cabin and sunbeds/parasols were very reasonable. The evening entertainment was pretty low key, the meals in the restaurant were varied but not always hot enough to eat. The staff were friendly and efficient and the rooms kept clean and tidy. We found the evening/bar management staff ( Manolita in the palm bar ) more obliging than the day staff and more friendly. The Italian restaurant menu was limited and was not served at all hot and the service was very slow apart from that our stay was okay but will not be returning to this hotel anytime soon."

"So where I do I begin? I went here with my mrs & 14 year old daughter. We had a superior room with our own small pool and sea view. Now this room isn’t superior in my opinion. You only have 1 plug socket & a small sofa bed. The double bed is ok. Now the views are great & the staff are lovely. Although most don’t speak English or understand very, very basic English. I thought our room pretty basic for a superior room if I’m honest. You’re paying for the view pay if I’m honest. My biggest gripe with this place is the food. So if you don’t get down early enough the food is cold. The food is basically the same most days so no variation which although this is a 4 star hotel the food should be hot and have a fair bit of variation. So if you’re taking kids there’s no English things like burgers, chicken nuggets etc. yes it’s very hilly but that wasn’t so bad. The other thing I felt frustrated about was that I paid 60 euro to keep my room for a late check out. But all the staff went home at 3pm as it was the end of the season so my inclusive stopped when they went. So all we got they day was breakfast why I I thought was a bit cheeky. So based on the lack I f food variety & how cold it was & the basic room for superior price I wouldn’t be returning. But Crete itself is a lovely island and great weather in later October."

"Good clean hotel but room dated,also few days we had to make our own beds as sheets just left folded on top of blanket, very strange that guests have make their own beds. Food good but bit repetitive but always plenty of it. Very hard on. Legs and getting to top pool but worth views and can always get sun loungers. Think her name was Karina a waitress in the bar who was so lovely and always smiling and by end of stay we just sat down and drinks would appear. Good stay overall"
