Athens Tiare by Mage Hotels

"We selected the Tiare Hotel from the Trip Advisor reviews. The rating is valid. The rooms were very nice and the there was an excellent spread for breakfast. The morning view of the giant fountain was highly appreciated during breakfast. Most of the staff was proficient in English and they were very helpful. Our stay was quite pleasant. We were amazed at how close the hotel was to tourist activities. The #12 HOHO stop is less than 100 yards from the front door of the hotel. A metro stop is also at the front door. The only negative was the hot water for my morning shower was only tepid, this is probably due everybody taking their showers prior to the 6:00 breakfast starting. There was plenty of hot water available at 4:00 am and 9:00 am."

"Location: good for travelers who are keen on exploring and experiencing the very local taste of Athenian city life. Walking around in the evening can be dangerous due to the location on Omonia square where alcoholics and thugs roam around excessively. ​Everything is accessible by taxi. (plaka and ermou st. for 5 Euros, big malls for 17-20 Euros) There is a very basic lobby like 2 couches and chairs on the side of the front desk. Rooms: even though we stayed at the most prestigious and expensive Tiare suite, it was very basic with no kettle or iron. Toiletries were skipped on several days. You get to see omonia square from the room. Breakfast: basic but satisfactory. you get the regular breakfast options that you find in all restaurants like eggs, sausages, beans and cheese. One or two kinds of desserts but the Bougatsa ( sugar and cream pie) is what made my day every morning. The funny thing is that you are only allowed to get american coffee for free, but if you ask for cappuccino it is sur charge (2 euros per cup). Have never seen anything as such in a hotel with open buffet. The hotel staff are nice and helpful, guided us through bookings of the islands trip and city tour bus. "it’s a good central hotel. Easy to access. Staff is helpful. In particular Nicos helped us with the room when first night we were in a supreme room but the third bed was not that comfortable next morning. He ensured that we are in a similar room with better facility and throughout the stay, Nikos was very helpful. Breakfast is good. I would recommend people to stay here but thank you to Nicos"
