"We have returned from a week-long campaign at the Meliá Tortuga Beach, and I am pleased to report that the position was held with great comfort and no shortage of liquid supplies. The Quarters: One’s surroundings are the foundation of one's morale. Our suite for two was nothing short of a stronghold of luxury. With two bedrooms, a kitchen stocked for any contingency, and a veranda for quiet contemplation, it was "super smooth," as the moderns say. The staff maintained the perimeter daily, ensuring a steady supply of fresh water—a vital resource in any theatre of operation. The Terrain & Beachhead: The establishment is vast, yet navigated with ease. A grand avenue leads one directly to the Atlantic front. There, before one’s boots even touch the sand, stands a restaurant and bar. For those of us on the "All-Inclusive" ticket, it is a strategic masterstroke—gold on the beach, indeed. A few observations from the front: * The Locals: Seek out Bubba and his associates at the pier. They are stout fellows selling tours; engage them in conversation. * The Equipment: The parasols and loungers have seen some service and require a modicum of repair, but they remain functional. * The Elements: In March, the winds may howl and the waves may roar, but the trek to Santa Maria is a march worth taking for any man with iron in his legs. * The Visitors: You will encounter merchants of magnets and caps. Treat them with a firm but polite "No," or a friendly word. You may also find the local cats and dogs patrolling the sands; they add a certain... spirit to the scenery. Provisions: The "All-Inclusive" buffet is a formidable spread, served at hours that would satisfy even the most demanding general. Should the buffet lose its novelty, the specialty restaurants offer an excellent flanking maneuver. The sustenance is, quite simply, top-tier. The Men and Women of Cape Verde: The true strength of this island lies in its people. If you treat them with respect, they will repay you in kind. The housekeeping staff, in particular, are full of life and charm. While the King’s English may not be spoken by all, a touch of humor and a gesture of goodwill bridge any gap. Talk to them; it is the finest "cultural refueling" one can find. Logistics: For sorties into Santa Maria, the taxi is your primary vessel. At a cost of 5 Euro, the experience varies from the sedate to the "thrilling," depending on the driver’s heavy foot. View it as an adventure; it is safe, simple, and requires only cash. The Verdict: I recommend this destination to all. Arm yourselves with sunscreen, maintain a spirit of kindness, and victory over boredom is assured. We shall ignore the trifles, we shall enjoy the sun, and we shall adopt the local cry: NO STRESS!"

"We arranged a tour through Antonio from the guest team. Tour was really excellent, and flexible. We'd already visited one of the tour spots, so they swapped it and took us to kite beach instead. We did all the sites-lemon sharks, blue eye, salt lakes and more. Our driver was Ailton-excellent English, friendly and very knowledgeable. The hotel is lovely-we had a three bed villa. Staff and TUI reps helpful with any issues. Daily cleaning in the villa, fridge restocked with water. Plenty of pools with a lot of free sunbeds, also easy access to beach that also had endless sunbeds. Plenty of bars so no real wait for drinks. Good variety of food in restaurants."
