Disappointing Stay – Far Below Expectations

"I rarely leave negative reviews, but unfortunately our recent stay at this Rixos hotel was extremely disappointing and fell well below expectations. One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was the advertised Starbucks on site, which, to our surprise, remained closed for the entire duration of our holiday. This was a significant factor in our booking decision, so it was frustrating to find it unavailable without prior notice. As someone working in construction, I specifically booked this holiday to rest and switch off. Instead, we were met with continuous drilling and loud construction noise starting at 8:00am every day, including weekends. We raised this issue with staff and were moved to another room, only to experience the same level of noise again. The disruption made it impossible to properly relax. The situation worsened when we received a call from reception at 2:00am informing us that we had left the lights on in our car — despite the fact that we did not even have a car at the hotel. After being woken unnecessarily, we struggled to get back to sleep, which negatively affected a pre-booked excursion the following day that had cost us hundreds of pounds. Even relaxing by the pool was difficult due to ongoing banging and clattering noises throughout the day. The cocktail quality was also inconsistent; drinks varied significantly depending on who prepared them, ranging from enjoyable to completely undrinkable. The lifts were another major issue. Wait times were excessive, and guests could easily spend 15–20 minutes per day waiting or stuck during journeys, which became increasingly frustrating. While the food initially seemed good, it quickly became repetitive, with largely the same options served every day. Overall, this was a very poor experience and not the relaxing holiday we had expected. Unfortunately, based on this stay, we would not recommend this hotel, as there are far better options available locally."
