THB Tropical Island

"I want to start by saying that this hotel has the possibility to be a really great place. The concept of it is great. Positives, The pools are great. Yes they are a little cold but my kids still absolutely loved them (3&6) Slides are brilliant for their ages and the two splash parks are amazing. There are so many that nothing ever felt cramped for us, each little set of rooms has a pool dedicated to it, there’s also a massive main pool with slides and then two splash areas, one with slides, one without. So much for the kids, floats allowed, really great. The little self catering facilities are good. Rooms are spacious. It’s a close walk to the beach but also taxis are easily attainable and very reasonably priced. We only ate in the snack bar, which was standard and the same at all hotels, but can’t comment on other food. Negatives It just feels a little unfinished. The reception area with the book case area looks messy. Grates broken round by smaller glass pools, hazard tape holding umbrellas up. I want to say we have never moved rooms in a hotel before. We’re not fussy as we spend so little time in there, but the first room we stayed in was absolutely filthy and the second was not much of an improvement. Our final room was better, but the paint works are shoddy, corners have been left for so long so dirt has built up and just become part of the furniture. Under the sofa in all the rooms was full of dust. Hairs in the cutlery drawers. Things hanging off walls, handles falling off doors and windows in room. We had a room with a walk in shower, the smaller shower head didn’t work properly, water was just pouring out of the pipe. The extractor fan was randomly turning on but blowing air out and the smell was horrible. I did report this to reception. I’m not sure if because our first room was so bad that I just picked up on everything else that maybe I wouldn’t have previously noticed. Another thing to note is the splash pad with no slides was not on and you had to ask for it to be switched on, which is fine but I got told on two occasions by the pool guy that he couldn’t because it was closed and had to go to reception to get them to phone down to turn it off. Staff are all friendly, cleaning staff in particular. And there is a young girl behind reception with dark hair in a pony tail who is particularly polite and nice too and much more understanding of concerns. The kids entertainment was good but we didn’t go later then that accept for once and it doesn’t tell you what is on on the evening before. But my kids absolutely loved it and we did have a lovely holiday."

"Our 6th time here at THB and really can not speak highly enough of the place.its so good we keep coming back.the rooms and grounds are so clean and the staff are Super friendly and work so hard.Can not comment on the meals as we usually go self catering but we have eaten from the snack bar which is decent and the staff are always so lovely there with a smile on their faces. So excited to return again.thankyou once again THB very happy customers."

"I was quite disappointed with my recent experience at this establishment. Fell ill on holiday, I approached the reception desk with all the necessary documentation after speaking with our insurance, seeking assistance. Unfortunately, the staff member at reception was unhelpful and repeatedly responded with, “I don’t know what this is.” Her attitude came across as dismissive and discourteous. Furthermore, I would not recommend this facility for families with young children. My four-year-old daughter was only able to use the small baby pool, as all other pools were approximately 1.5 metres deep, too deep for both children and adults who are not tall. The splash park some days was not even turned on. The children’s club was also below expectations, offering limited activities that consisted mainly of colouring and a small play area. In addition, the accommodation had an unpleasant odour, possibly from the cleaning products used. Overall, the experience fell short of expectations in several areas, particularly regarding customer service and family-friendly facilities."
