Balconies are spacious. They have two chairs and a table. Clothes rail for drying clothes. Bathrooms have shampoo, body wash and hand wash. Also got a hair dryer. There's a shelf for the big towels above the shower/ bath and they have a drain in the middle of the floor which takes out any spilled water.
The doors sometimes lock by themselves which can be a problem but you can open them with a little coin from outside. Rooms are very comfortable, very spacious. They both have bedside sockets and a bedside cabinet each side to keep your evening drinks.
The TVs are about 24 inch. They got USB and HDMI that will run a fire stick off hotel wifi.
A small fridge in the cupboard can hold two bottles of wine.
My only problem with the rooms is that they got two big steps in the middle leading to the bathroom with no handrail which was a problem for me.
Food. The portions are really big. The menu is rather limited but they do have a choice of two fish, a choice of meats, pasta, pizza. Limited options for ceiliacs. Ill include the piscina bar menu and the Costa Menu below.
Food at breakfast is quite glutenous. Avoid bread, cakes, sausages. Other 4* hotels I've used have gluten free bread and cakes. However there is plenty of egg, bacon, tomato, cucumber, olives, cheese and fruit in abundance.
Evening meal portions are huge. Prices are reasonable. There is also the option to upgrade to half board at 22euro per night.
Prices of drinks are rather expensive compared to nearby establishments. Up in the town of Virga you can get a litre of wine for 10 euros in a carafe in the Taverna and further down the village it's about 6 euros for 500ml of wine. In the hotel and the 187ml bottle is 6 euros. 75cl 18 euros.
Local shops. There is one about two miles down the road. It has a limited supply of drinks.
The garage up in Virga (500m). They stock spirits and wines and cans and are quite reasonable.
70cl Ouzo in the garage was 13 euros in Lidl's if you can get there a bottle of Ouzo is 7.90. Chardonnay 3.90
The hotel has free sunbeds by pool, sun terrace and on the pebble beach.
Beach bars provide free sunbeds if you buy some drinks or maybe have a small meal and this also goes for Kalamata as you head towards the port area I can particularly recommend
the Del Mar cafe, in front of the church and restaurant we had a frappe there many days and I had free sunbeds and there's also good access for toilets and there's also good access for disabled people to get into the sea using the chair (wave to the life guard).
South 500m, Crabs is a lovely restaurant. Has free beds if you buy drinks.
The staff at the hotel seem really
happy, they're very welcoming and have a very relaxed manner and the manager is also very
personable there's a real ambience about the place. My only bug with the entire complex is the amount of steps as I have trouble walking there are no handrails apart from one going down to the bottom terrace I struggled to get up a lot of the steps there are
winding paths for wheelchairs but if you're a wheelchair user and you won't be able to
get into the pool without encountering at least three steps also there are two annoying big steps
going up into the bar so I'll be warned about this. Also, there is no hand rail into the pool.
There's a small bus that runs down the peninsula I didn't get the timetable but one passes every 20 mins. Its the number 7 that turns in Kitries and at the start of the city promenade (east). It meets the number 1 that goes along the front into town.
If you're looking at car rental I used auto union through booking.com and we had a small car for the equivalent of 25 pounds a day over nine days I've not yet returned the car so I'll update you on that. Towns to the South are stunning, but its over the mountain to get to Kardamyli, Stoupa and Agios Nicalous. Also recommend a drive to Pylos and Voidalaka Bay. Leave out Analipsi and Petaldi, the road is a nightmare.
Hand rails in rooms for disabled, hand rail in the pool and on the pool steps would really help.
Would definitely return, give a like if I've helped you.
