Boscolo Lyon Hotel and Spa

"We needed a place to stay for one night in Lyon before boarding an Amawaterways river cruise. This hotel was amazing and the thermal baths in the spa area were so fantastic for helping us get over the jet lag coming from America. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds were extremely comfortable which was also another great thing after traveling for so long. There are a lot of wonderful restaurants within walking distance and also a lot of shopping, plus a view of the river. I highly recommend staying here and would absolutely stay again for longer."

"We had booked 6 nights in an elegance suite. We arrived in the afternoon about 1h30 pm and the room was not ready, which was fine, so we dropped off our lugguage and went for a walk. We returned exactly at 4pm and they mde us wait in the lobby for about 10 minutes. We think the rooms should be ready at 4pm. Then the fun begins as we arrive in our room and there is a foul odoor of roten water. We call reception and the head maid comes to the rooms and agrees that we cant stay in the room and this happens because of the rhone river. They then find us anoter room and by the time we move it is 6pm. We had breakfast included which was nice besides 2 mornings that the hotel had groups and trhere was no place to sit, missing food and long wait for coffee. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant. Food is very good but overpriced. It was the only place in France that they charged ud 4.50 euros for a bottle of water and when we finished the first bottle they brought us a second that we did nor drink but charged us 4.50 euros, for a total of 9 euros. This is not a 5 star foir North American standards and especially for the price we paid."

"Tricked into booking Boscolo Lyon because of a previous stay at Boscolo Exedra Roma (now Anantara Palazzo Naiadi) that was fantastic. Should have double checked… Location is very good, within walking distance to main shopping district with many dining options. Check in was quick and efficient. We received an « upgrade » and were told that minibar was complimentary. Both were unexpected and appreciated, until we got to the room. Room was spacious but underwhelming, we were expecting better than that. Even with an upgrade, nothing to brag about. Designer delirium where form is everything and function is not a priority, or even a preoccupation. Complimentary minibar was stocked with 2 small bottles of water, and, that’s it. A joke. Large and comfortable bed, but, almost impossible to sleep. Soundproofing was obviously not on the list when building the rooms. That means that, staying on the 3rd floor, you can tell what music is played in the cars stopped at the red light in front of the hotel. Ridiculous. Pool area is really nice, but staffing is non existent. When we got there, place was empty but there were dozens of used towels everywhere. Not a great look. Last but not least, breakfast was a joke. How can you charge 39€ for that circus? Got in the breakfast room around 9:55AM (breakfast close at 11AM). No host to greet us, so after a couple of minutes wait, we helped ourselves to a table. Waiters were running all over the place. Took 20 minutes before our coffee order was taken. Buffet was 90% empty, no bread or pastries, no juices… When the bread and pastries were restocked, after more than 45 minutes, we realised it was not worth the wait. Nothing is fresh, these are frozen items put in the oven and overcooked (burnt). Quick and efficient check out. What to say when the best experience of a property is check in/check out? One thing is for sure, we’ll never return and have yet to discover a nice 5 stars hotel in the Lyon area."
