St. George Beach Hotel & Spa Resort

"My wife & I have just returned from this hotel and really enjoyed our 2 weeks away although we did find the weather was hotter than previous years, but can't blame to hotel for that. We have visited Cyprus on numerous occasions and usually stay in one of the hotels along the 'strip' but thought this year we would have a change of scenery. We had stayed at one of our previous hotels about 10 times so it was unavoidable that we were always going to compare. First the good things. The view from our room - we had a pool/sea view room - and also the views from the beach. When we arrived and to my horror, I saw that, my pet hate, Jet ski's, were located right next to the beach but was pleasantly surprised that we hardly heard them. Were they electric? All the staff were brilliant and special thanks to Zabana & Anisha at the beach bar who were great, especially when under pressure. Not sure how much they are being paid but, the way they work, should get more. You can help your self to soft drinks and also there are water stations where you can top up your water bottles. There is no ideal sunbed system but found this to be the best one we have come across. When you arrive you have a choice of sunbed allocation and that is yours for the whole of your stay and if you later change your mind you are able to relocate. There are many bars available so you have a choice of one with entertainment or a quiet one if you just want to chat. I like to go for walks but the hotel is located in a dip so there are step hills on both sides. I wouldn't recommend walking towards Coral Bay as some of the coastal paths are blocked off and you have to keep accessing the main road. The best walk is to Paphos Harbour where there is a nice costal path but is quite hilly in places. Now the down side. Found the food average or below average and on occasion didn't think that the chicken and fish was cooked enough. There are 4 al a carte restaurants which are excellent, American, Asian, Greek and Italian and would advise that you take up your allocation to one or all of them. Our room had serious maintenance issues. The balcony door latch was so stiff the we left it unlocked for the whole of our stay. The t.v. would only work if it was switched on and off with the wall socket and then most of the pictures were pixilated so wasn't worth watching anyway. The wardrobe door didn't slide properly. Now the bathroom, the seat was fitted properly and was at an angle and the flush button kept falling off, the shower screen not only leaked at the door (most hotels have this problem) but also where it was attached to the wall. The tissue box holder didn't fit and kept falling off the wall. The bath towels and the beach towels had seen better days and on a couple of occasions we were not left any replacement towels or shower gel. Would we go to this hotel again. Most probably especially now we know the things we like and don't like."

"Room lovely, hotel clean. Food good quality. Beach bar and set up good. Cafe is a nice touch. Downsides food is very English, very little local greek food. Roasts most days, pies and stews. The beer on tap is poor, very flat Keo. Gym air conditioning just doesn't work."

"Arrived at the hotel late in the evening after a 45 minute journey from Paphos airport. We were greeted by the night management team with a couple of glasses of champagne. On receiving our room door cards we discovered that the room was not the easiest to locate as the room numbers did not run in sequence but eventually we found our room. The room was comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities, there was a balcony with a sea side view, a walk in shower, safe, slippers and bath robes. Breakfast began at 07.00 through to 10.00, lunch 13.00 to 15.00 and dinner 19.00 to 22.00. The hotel provided a good selection of food and catered for all tastes but found the bacon and eggs for breakfast never hot enough to eat. There were snacks provided all day long including ice creams, pizzas, hot dogs and fries. The hotel had two pools which also had a pool bar serving drinks from 10.00 through to late afternoon. We discovered that the sunbed/parasol allocation was a first as when one collected their pool towels from the pool area you were shown what beds were available and they were yours for the duration of your stay, wished other hotels took up the initiative. Local busses where frequent and very reasonable so no problem getting around. The hotel also had four a la carte restaurants providing Greek, Asian, Italian, Route 66 burger/Steaks bar. Reservations are made on screens within the hotel. All the staff were very friendly and got to know them quite well during our two week stay, needless to say we both look forward to staying here again in the near future."
