Beachcombers Hotel

"Spent 4 nights in this hotel. Pros - cosy room, comfortable bed, lovely staff, especially barman (didn’t get his name but was from Rwanda - made lovely liqueur coffees!). Bus stop outside hotel. Good breakfast however table was prepared the night before and cereals were in bowls covered with clingfilm - which meant they were a little soggy in the morning. Please keep cereals in sealed container! Plenty, varied food on offer at breakfast. Cons - hotel was a bit far out. Buses were hourly and about 15-20 minutes into town. Although there were other more frequent buses available about a 10 minute walk away - however there was no street lighting and very dark to walk at night. Suggest if going in winter you take a head torch if travelling by public transport. Dining - menu was quite limited with a choice of two or three courses - no a la carte options. However having said that we had a lovely meal there on our first night - delicious vegetable soup and well cooked steak. Ultimately we had a lovely stay here and would return in summer months, but opt for hotel in St. Helier itself in winter."

"We chose this Hotel on Jersey from a recommendation from the Travel agent. There was a bit of confusion when we arrived about our dog which was soon rectified once they saw our booking slip. There was then a mixup regarding where we sat in the restaurant as we had our dog, there are no designated areas for people with dogs to have their meals and dogs are not allowed to be left in the rooms, so there is no choice other than take him with us to eat. The main unpleasant experience was being bitten at night in bed, I kept wondering what was causing it until I looked up possible causes on the web. Our bites seemed to be in groups of 3 each time on our sides and back areas (better known as breakfast dinner and tea according to the Wikipedia site) I asked at reception and explained what I believed it to be and they changed all the bedding on our bed. The following night not bitten then after that the bites started again and leaving little red marks on the sheets. On our return we let the travel company aware. The hotel now claim it was most likely mosquitoes or gnats. I know it wasn’t. I’ll say again the hotel was nice but a very unpleasant experience"

"Booked this hotel as a short break with EasyJet. Room was comfortable on first floor and faced to the rear looking over pool and tennis courts. Breakfast was tasty and the staff were friendly and helpful. As there was a bus stop outside the hotel we bought a bus pass, which we used continuously to visit St Helier and many other points of interest. Although we found the hotel perfectly adequate, we would have preferred one in St Helier itself."
