"Arrival & Check-In
When we arrived, reception was dark and didn’t feel very welcoming. The staff spoke very little English, which is fine — we don’t expect everyone to — but the check-in process was confusing. We were handed a short form to fill out and that was about it. No information on Wi-Fi, meal times, or facilities was given, so we had to go back later to ask about everything.

Room Cleanliness
A staff member kindly helped with our bags, which was appreciated. Sadly, that’s where the positives ended. The room wasn’t clean when we arrived. The bathroom door handle kept falling off, the sink and taps were dirty and smeared, and the bedding had black marks. The throw on the bed had a red stain — maybe wine, lipstick, or something else — either way, not something you want to see when you first arrive.
The floor wasn’t filthy but clearly hadn’t been properly cleaned, with hairs visible in several places. After speaking with our Captain EasyJet rep, the hotel did send someone to clean the room again, and it looked better afterwards. However, by that point it already felt “used”, like it hadn’t been properly reset between guests. We paid extra for a swim-up room, but it honestly didn’t look anything like the photos online.
⸻
Public Areas
The swim-up decking was one of the better features — plenty of sunbeds and a nice layout. It does fall into shade part of the day, but that’s just how the sun moves, not the hotel’s fault. The pool, though, was absolutely freezing. I understand it’s October, but a bit of heating would make a big difference.
Around the resort, public areas weren’t great. The bar counters were sticky, cups and glasses were left out, and the overall level of cleanliness was poor. Tables rarely looked freshly wiped.
⸻
Facilities
The hotel has an indoor pool, but again, it’s cold and not very clean. The main outdoor pools also had rubbish floating in them more than once.
They advertise an à la carte restaurant, but it wasn’t open at all during our stay. The snack bar was open, and staff there did clear the tables, but the grass area around it was overgrown and looked rough, giving it an untidy feel.
There’s a private beach opposite the hotel, which could be beautiful with some attention. Instead, it’s full of seaweed and rubbish, and nobody seems to maintain it. There’s a security guard there during the day but not at night, so anyone could easily walk into the hotel area.
⸻
Food & Dining
The food was extremely basic but actually tasted nice most nights. There was always a meat option and a vegetable option, but it was the same every single evening. After a week, it got very repetitive. I’m not overly picky when it comes to food, so I didn’t mind too much, but my wife has a simpler palate and got bored quickly — mostly living off chips and bread.
The restaurant setup itself wasn’t great. You walk in, find your own table, and there’s no drink service — you fetch your own drinks even at dinner. There’s also hardly any allergy information on the food labels. We were told to ask the chef, but that’s not easy when most staff are on their phones and not really engaging with guests, plus there’s a language barrier to consider (which again, isn’t their fault).
Tables weren’t cleared quickly, and during quieter times of day, the buffet food was often cold because it wasn’t being replenished as often. When fresh, the food tasted fine — it’s just repetitive and sometimes lukewarm.

Staff
Most of the staff seemed disinterested. They only spoke if you did first, and even then, it was very minimal. They did what was asked but never went beyond that. Many weren’t wearing proper uniforms, so it was hard to tell who was staff and who wasn’t. Some had old badges with stickers over the top — it all just felt a bit unprofessional.
To be fair, I don’t think this is really the staff’s fault. It’s the end of season, morale seems low, and management clearly isn’t training or motivating them. When you pay over £1,500 for a week, you expect staff who are friendly and welcoming, not people sitting on their phones looking like they want to go home.
Final Thoughts
To end on something positive — they do serve Tuborg beer, which I really like, and there are plenty of cats around the hotel, which I personally loved seeing every day.
Overall though, the hotel has massive potential. The building and layout are genuinely beautiful, and it could easily be a great place if it was properly cared for. Right now though, it’s rundown, not maintained, not cleaned to standard, and there just aren’t enough staff to run it like a five-star hotel. This falls on management — they need to fix it for future guests.
We were so unhappy with our stay that after just one day we actually considered leaving early and flying home at our own expense. We did end up getting a small refund through our tour provider. Judging by the replies to other reviews, it seems the hotel doesn’t take criticism very well — but hopefully they take this as constructive feedback and make changes, because it really could be a fantastic place with the right management.
