Since posting my initial review, the hotel decided to respond with lies that they rectified the water issue. This was absolutely not the case and their only solution is to move people rooms. The water issue was not resolved during our stay and reading other reviews, has not been for several months. Do not let believe the hotels responses as they are using a trusted review website to lure people in to spend their hard earned money. AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU WANT CLEAN RUNNING WATER!
We arrived on Monday 29th December for a 6 night stay to celebrate the new year and upon check in, hotel seemed to be great with a complimentary drink upon arrival, unfortunately this is the only positive from the stay.
We are currently on day/night number 3 and I feel I have spent more time going to reception than actually relaxing.
We were allocated room 106 which the double terrace room we had booked and upon inspection, decided on asking if any upgrades were available. We were allocated room 419 at an upgrade cost of €60, having already spent a lot of money to book this hotel.
We checked over room 419 and when running the hot water it was visibly a yellow/brown colour. We reported this to reception and were offered another room, 516. After the inconvenience of unpacking all our things and then having to pack again, we moved into 516.
516 had the same issue, yellow/brown hot water which is totally unacceptable as this is the bare minimum and clean running water expected at any hotel, whether this be a 1 star or 4 star. We reported this to reception and spoke with a manager, whose only solution was to offer us a move, again, to room 423. We declined this offer, as in their words, “could not guarantee the water would not run dirty again in a few hours or days time”.
An explanation was offered as to why the water was running the colour it was, however, this does not make it acceptable to be having guests staying in rooms with this issue and then when drying themselves afterwards, the towels are quite visibly the colour of the water.
There is no mention anywhere on the official Ole website around the water issues, nothing on any booking partner website and no notices within the hotel to inform guests, and the staff are quite clearly aware, as previously mentioned, an explanation was provided on the water, so why are they not informing guests?
Other Points
Very basic 4 star hotel, no amenities within the room such as kettle etc, beds are extremely uncomfortable and rooms are as basic as they come with no stand out features. Balcony flooring not being mopped and leaving feet black with dirt. 3 star hotel would be more appropriate.
Positive Points
Pool area is very large with plenty sunbeds and a nice large pool, with the entertainment staff throughout the day bringing some cheer to an extremely underwhelming stay.
To summarise, we had done our due diligence before booking this hotel by reading reviews and I am amazed at how many are so highly scoring this hotel. We paid €300 per night and leave feeling like the wool has been pulled over our eyes as this definitely does not represent value for money.
To the manager who may read and respond, rather than responding to tripadvisor reviews, could you please have someone respond to my booking.com complaint as this will be escalated to CEO of booking.com shortly!"
