"Apologies as its a long review but it's mine and my partners honest opinion.
Arrived home today after spending a week here, was really looking forward to it as it had been booked for almost a year. We are in our late 50s and my parents are late 70s and this hotel made them look young.
I definitely wouldn't rate it as a 4* I would say a close 3*. The lettering/lights are missing from the sign as you arrive and have been like that a while.
Anyway here goes....
Reception *
On arrival the two ladies were so lovely and welcoming, the following morning the one with blond hair was quite rude and abrupt.
Loved walking into the reception, it's a lovely area with comfy settees etc. The room at the back is less welcoming and quite old fashioned.
Rooms*
We were on the third floor right next to the lift, nice sized room and the bottle of cava was a nice touch, however they wished us happy honeymoon in a letter when it was our 9yr anniversary.
The balcony was the smallest I had ever seen and we were unable to sit out on it due to it being so small and it didn't get any sun, however it was over looking the tennis courts and we could see over to Matagorda and the room was extremely dark, the carpet was filthy and it was as though it had never seen a hoover. Bathroom was OK but it had an old bath in it. Huge bed but not the comfiest and quite dated.
Maid changed the towels once and only replenish the tea/coffee once when it should've been everyday.
Dining room/Food*
On arrival we had evening meal as we booked half board, the dining room is lovely and all the tables are set out lovely, we thought on that first night the food was lovely great choice and had a nice meal, although we had to pay for a water. Everynight it was very samey. The following morning we paid €36 each a night to upgrade to All Inclusive, so we could have drinks and snacks, breakfast that first morning was lovely, great selection, however it was absolutely chaotic, no organisation people shuffling about here there and everywhere. I had read about people saying the food was cold and it's plain to see why, no disrespect but due to the clientele being of a certain age, it takes an age in the food queues, so it's cold when you get it to table.
Tables reserved for disabled and sometimes we struggled to get one.
Now......on out third night I got Turkey and what I saw that night put us off dining in there again. I ate my meal then saw the chef who carved the turkey, with a stack of RAW pork chops putting them on the hotplate, then go back to carving the cooked meat, we went to hatch were they serve Chinese and I went to put prawn crackers on my plate and they were covered in flies. I, my partner and someone we met were ill for 2 days, I never get tummy bugs, so blame the food and didn't dine in there again....its shocking really, some staff were nice others quite abrupt.
Pool Bar*
Food was totally different and because we skipped breakfast we used this, pizzas are amazing and the caeser salad was too. Drinks nice but didn't like the paper cups if you were by the pool, cakes were lovely and fresh.
Found the older man working there extremely rude and
Pool*
Despite signs all over about no reserving beds with towels, beds had towels on them, but there was plenty to choose from. We preferred the top Pool, The pool area is the best part about this hotel, it's an amazing outdoor space.
Bar*
Well what can I say, its that bad it's good, it's like cocoon and they are all on day release. Old blokes sat about in their bedroom slippers too. Entertainment was quite shocking, 2 goodish nights out of the week, only made good due to friends we made.
Tino, Juan and Hassan stood out as lovely bar staff and always knew our drinks and took the time to chat.
On our last night my partner was spoken down to by another member of staff because he decided to ask for blackcurrant in his drink, he said there's only one person who drinks that drink and your sat with him....my partner wanted to try the drink, this barman was more or less accusing him of getting a drink on our all inclusive when we have only known them a few days.
We were told to Shush when leaving the bar due to people sleeping, however when all the elderly were going down in lifts at 7.30am for breakfast they were making more noise. A German man by the pool actually told us to be quiet as someone had recognised us and wanted to say hello, then said we should be 2metres aways from him.
I feel I'm being kind giving this place 3***
We viewed another 4**** hotel yesterday and it's amazing and we will be booking that for next year.
A lot of money was spent on this holiday but we had to spend more on dining out.
Do your research before booking."
