"Certainly not the worst hotel I have ever stayed in but was not what I expected of a "4 star hotel." Initially disappointed but got over it pretty fast. The good, made up for the bad. Located up a hill, about a 10 min stroll away from the beach front, a few restaurants and bars on the way if you want to avoid the hubbub of the main strip. The hotel is clean but VERY run down. We arrived to rain and when we entered our room, found there was a puddle at the room door because the UPVC door was so buckled it couldn't seal. The only part of the door that was secure was the key card lock. Day light was visible everywhere else.
We explained we were celebrating our anniversary and asked to move room because it didn't feel safe. They were very accommodating, and gave us a different room but it wasn't a better option as we were moved to a room that had an adjoining door with the room through the wall and the only think keeping it from being opened was a small snib. The front door was again buckled and didnt seal, we were told by the receptionist all the rooms were the same because they are in need of a full refurbishment. The balcony door also did not close properly so the room was not very secure. A safe is available but costs €3 per day to hire, which is poor considering the rooms are less than 100% secure, this really should be offered free of charge. The walls are thin so we could hear our neighbours talking constantly. The room we were in (123) was directly above the street bins so we were woken daily 6am for emptying, once at 2:30am for cleaning, and you hear the rattling of glass all day right upto around midnight. You get the sun whilst in the bedroom but never on the balcony (Jan). The hotel has 1 small restaurant and 1 bar, situated at the oposite side of the complex so the deliveries and bins were taken across the area where the pool and loungers were situated all day long. There were plently of loungers and outdoor seating areas, great for sun worshipers, however the weather wasn't great with several heavy down pours and strong cold winds but the hotel offered no indoor areas to shelter or socialise in groups except a small outdoor area or own rooms. The food is quite good. There wasn't a huge selection for each meal but the food that was prepared was nice and certainly edible. I found lunch options were always better than dinner. The bar opens at 10am and closes at 11pm sharp. You need to purchase a cup for your drinks or you won't get served, that was pretty annoying having to make sure to take the cups to the room at the end of each day and bring them back. The atmosphere is ok with music played throughout the day. The bar, restaurant, reception and cleaning staff were pleasant enough but I wouldn't say anyone was particuarly friendly with the exception of their entertainer, Sam. He was on site 5 days per week, approx 10-1 then 8-11. He is super friendly, has good banter was the hotels saving grace. Without him the place would be extremely boring and a massive disappointment. Thank you Sam for a great week of laughs and competition, maybe not for the drinking game you had us playing on day 2 😉 😄."
