"We booked a week here for some winter sun and the weather didn't disappoint. We paid less than £750 including transfers and chosen seats absolute bargain.
Reviews that came after booking started to fill us with dread, from airport nightmares to how bad the complex had become. We needn't of worried on both.
We prepared for our arrival to the airport , going to the toilet before landing, headphones on the ready to drown out stress and verbals on queuing, water for our cuppa in our room if we missed the shop, tea, coffee and milk sachets on our carry on. We flew through arrivals and from landing to sticking the kettle on took less than an hour.
On our arrival we was warmly greeted, given lots of info whilst being taken to our room, and we made the shop!
Room was adequate for our needs, wasn't a great amount of cooking utensils but im sure if you asked they would provide. We was aware of hot water issues via reviews and chose our showers at less busy times, about 4 ish if we hadn't ventured too far. Once in our 7 night stay we didnt get a hot shower.
We don't watch tv but like some background noise, the aerial didn't have a connecting end, on reporting this to reception, showing a photo so language barrier didn't get in the way, by the time we came back from commercial centre with some supplies it had been sorted.
We brought toilet roll, again people had complained that this was lacking and again this was proven wrong.
These apartments are basic, apparently we had a renovated apartment, but found that only the walk in shower, sofa, and dining table was the renovation. Table was massive, 6 seater glass, only 2 chairs, far too big. Old style table and benches previously in the room was being used on the balcony. Not the most comfortable to sit on outside.
Barely any sun on the balcony, we was room 108, so if you like all day sun avoid this block.
The windows in the bedroom did not shut properly due to old rotting wood, and no key to lock patio doors, luckily we was upper floor. Beds are 2 singles together to make a double, not the best, moved when you move, and not the most comfortable to sleep on.
Onsite shop adequate, fresh pastries and breads in the morning are to die for.
Bar restaurant is just a bar with frozen pizza to order. Shame as not every night you might not want to go walking to eat.
Pool...what a shame. Lovely pool but freezing, so made this unusable unless you are brave. Unfortunately heart problems made this unusable. Ample sunbeds, many old but some new beds.
Short walk to commercial centre, but very disappointed with what was on offer. Last time we visited Matagorda was 20 years ago and we get times change but it was dire. Glad we only had 7 nights. Some eateries being refurnished so limited on what and where to eat. On that note, Sundays is a closed day for many.
We went to P.D.C a couple of times, taxi 5-6 euros. Reception will order for you.
On checking out, that is 11 am, we did ask the day before if we could pay for a later check, and this was adamantly shut down by the rather rude owners wife. Funny thing was the cleaner didn't enter our checked out room until 4.30pm.
We have given this a 3 star, in the middle, as it is in the middle. Neither good, neither bad. It did the job.
Don't take the bad reviews to heart, you make your holiday your holiday, the room is somewhere to shower and sleep."
