"I stayed here 3 weeks in Nov/Dec 2025. I paid extra for a single room on the sunny side having previously been stuck on the shaded street side 8 years before. The best bit was having the balcony which got the sun in the afternoon. However the renovated rooms are disappointing- the old wooden wardrobes have been ripped out and MDF drawers/shelves/ rail been put in. All open so you see all your bits - very untidy, and not ‘sustainable’ as this wont wear well . It already looks tatty and in need of replacing. Only 1 armchair, only 1 bedside cabinet - what is that about! Large MDF desk as well that is pointless in a tourist hotel with heavy chair that is so noisy. (Room 909).
The bath has been taken out so now a large walk in shower but brown tiles now mixed with brown tiles so looks a mess, plus the water flows onto the floor as there’s no lip to the shower area.
I had issues with the toilet- the flush was changed but half a dozen times after the toilet bowl made very loud noises, mostly at night which woke me up, as it seems to be affected by other toilets being flushed. Also smelled badly when this happened.
Rooms - bathroom and entrance large but the bed /rest area small. And balconies only had small side table and 2 chairs so very tight.
Food- plenty and some bits in the buffet good but often hit and miss in the evenings. Breakfast- awful catering mushrooms that tasted sour ; omelettes got drier as time went on. Disappointing that fresh avocado was only served 4 times in 3 weeks ! But plenty of choice so you wont starve.
Evenings- sushi night fabulous, also fresh tiger prawns twice but often selection disappointing. Twice i had chef cooked noodle and pasta but awful both times- pasta done in a wok, swamped with oil and pasta solid from being under the lights and badly pre-cooked.
Only allowed 1 glass of tap water with dinner as well!
So where’s the sustainability - expecting guests to buy bottled water every night!
Entertainment- line dancing was good but to be honest entertainment programme disappointing. Outsourced so none in house. Dance teacher who also did aqua often arrived late. Latin class disappointing. Evening singers again hit and miss.
Indoor pool not very warm. Aqua class once a week - boring to be honest.
Pool towel- have to pay 1 euro to get it changed- how fair is that when its the same rules if you stay 1 week or 10!
There used to be a nice atmosphere at the hotel but that is now missing- no guest relations / customer service now. I spent 3 weeks there and not once was there any contact - other than the check in survey- to check if everything was ok. Given how many guests are elderly, travel solo, this is disappointing. Front /reception staff should be friendly / like dealing with people but that is missing now. Dont work in a hotel if you cant engage with people.
Also a general lack of information - for example that you can use the gym at the sister Yaramar hotel. Many who have been coming for years complained about happy hour having been done away with. That didnt bother me but its symptomatic of changes being made by current management. Its a shame that they are forgetting its the guests who keep a hotel going, especially in the winter. You need to keep the guests happy- not ignore them, and cut corners. Also dont cite ‘sustainability’ but then do the exact opposite.
Two cushions on the bed- both flat and covers stained. Disappointing indeed.
Such a shame really"
