Estalagem Do Vale

"Spent a wonderful week at this lovely hotel with my best friend at the end of September. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, with being greeted with a dram of Madeira wine on arrival! The location is beautiful with wonderful views of the vale, you do need a car, we were lucky to have a hire car, the only small downside is parking can be limited on an evening but this isn't a deal breaker as there is parking on the street outside. The pool was welcome on a warm day. The bar was good and we ate in the restaurant one evening, you have to book in advance for this as it does get full with being small. Beds were comfortable, room was very clean, fridge in room but no kettle unfortunately. Breakfast was fabulous, with plenty of fresh items daily. I would definitely stay here again, this was my first trip to Madeira and I will definitely be back. I would recommend staying in this area of Madeira to escape the crowds of Funchal, we managed a day trip there. Lovely walks in the area, in the town there is a supermarket and petrol station, bars and restaurants along the seafront. When asked staff also made us a 'picnic' bag of breakfast items for our early morning flight on our final day. Thanks for the lovely stay!"

"Well what can I say firstly beautiful views. You must get a room with a view. Stunning backdrop. If your after a bar drinking holiday this is not for you. It's in the middle of nowhere which is what I wanted really.A chilled holiday by the pool.A car is a must.The walk to Sao Vicente is a lovely stroll downhill and downhill and downhill again but lovely.Staff here at the hotel were great Breakfast great.Room could do with a kettle. You have to pay for safe we didn't bother. So getting back to the hotel from the coast is a challenge in itself.not many taxis about in October but we managed to find an x pat English guy taxi driver who helped us out and the hotel did to aswell having to get a taxi from another village. The fish restaurant near by is excellent i forget the name hotel will tell you.small little Portuguese bar next door very nice lady owner open hit and miss. Overall a nice chilled stay in a remote area of Madeira. Hotel and staff very nice.but you need to be fit to climb those hills. Enjoy hope this review helped."
