"Stayed here last week October. This is not 5 star hotel I would give this a 3 star? Food was always cold you had to ask for drinks in the restaurant staff not forthcoming to ask if you would like anymore .staff fantastic but no structure to the restaurant no one appears to understand what there job role was in the restaurant to ensure to deliver service to the people who had paid good money to stay in this hotel But this is down to management to work with your staff.You had to look for crockery every time you went for food.its like faulty tower's Room very clean housekeeping staff work very hard. Grounds lovely anyone with mobility issues not the hotel for you as everything up hill. Great for kids Entertainment is shocking Plastic Glasses in the main Entertainment room you cannot get a seat in this area on evening till about 10pm once Entertainment is finished Would not return to this hotel even if offered free."

"The Tivoli Alvor All Inclusive is a resort with huge potential but as currently managed and operated fails to deliver a satisfactory experience. What they advertise and what they deliver are poles apart, especially in dining facilities. On arrival, service and welcome at reception leave a lot to be desired and this gets one's visit off to a poor start. Other visits to Reception confirmed the initial perception. The rooms and the general Housekeeping services were of good 4* standard. The resort advertises tremendous dining opportunities but the reality is far removed from that. When we stayed, one of the restaurants, Hot Med, was closed all the time. The "Dine Out" (barbecue) experience similarly did not function. The advertised opportunity to dine at the other "Themed Restaurants" turned out to be virtually impossible to access. They were always fully booked on the app through which one was required to book. That left the main Essence buffet restaurant as the only available option. The food on offer there was far from 5* and might be better described as canteen type food. Fortunately we had paid for the Premium service so we could avail of breakfast at the Roastic restaurant. While not what one might expect for a 5* breakfast, it was good and it enabled us to avoid the dreadful Essence outlet. We managed to access two of the themed restaurants by literally badgering reception until we got one reservation for Roastic and one for Carosello. Separately we just turned up at restaurant doors and appealed to staff. By contrast to Reception and Senior Management, we found restaurant staff to be helpful and welcoming. We also found the so called fully booked restaurants to have significant available capacity. Once accessed, we found Carosello Restaurant to be excellent. Outside of dining, the resort offers a fine selection of pools to suit many demands, a kids club with good facilities and a football cage, Mini-golf and Boules area. The single Paddle Tennis course was inadequate to meet the demand in such a large resort. In the evenings, the main bar area, Shore, hosted entertainment which was generally of a very poor standard and amplified to levels of distortion which exaggerated the mediocrity. The overall impression was of a resort in sharp decline and lacking the management to improve matters. It is such a pity because most of the staff we met, especially those in Carosello, at breakfast in Roastic and the people staffing the coffee outlet in the big tent were extremely pleasant and helpful. Overall the resort is way too expensive for what it currently has to offer."

"Just a couple of constructive comments. The rooms were very clean and the resort itself was very nice to walk around. The beach is beautiful, and is well within walking distance. There are some elements that need a bit of attention for example, the golf clubs on the mini golf were all snapped, and it was a bit run down. We were extremely disappointed in the buffet and food generally in the resort. The buffet is very low quality, and the only other options (the restaurants), on the premium all inclusive weren't available to us for the entire stay. We were told of this ridicules self defeating rule, whereby; in order to allow new arrivals to book the restaurants you weren't allows to book any restaurants on the resort for the first 3 nights of your stay. We could only book a restaurant on the last night of our stay, which is totally unacceptable! To make things worse, the restaurants were only half full at any point on every night, but we were told that we can't get a reservation just in case the people who booked turn up. Our only option was to eat outside the resort with the vouchers (which only cover half of the cost of the meal), or take on the very low quality standard buffet. All in all, not worth paying school holiday rates for, but generally ok if you just want a change of scenery, and manage to get a cheap enough deal. "
