In a league of its own
Picture this: a sun-drenched terrace, an ice-cold cocktail, and you. The scent of orange blossom drifts by on the breeze and the Atlas Mountains tower in the distance. It might sound just like a dream but it’s very much the reality at The Oberoi Marrakech.
Between the Moorish arches, the marble pathways, and the Medersa Ben Youssef-inspired courtyard, this place is just as much an architectural marvel as it is a treat for the senses. When you wander through the citrus groves and past the olive trees – which yes, they do use to produce their very own olive oil – you’d think you’re a world away from the bustling medina of nearby Marrakech.
We hear it’s not uncommon for people to hole up in the hotel for the entirety of their stay, and we have to say, we can’t blame them. From long days spent at the spa – all carved stone, candlelight, and calm – to the palm-fringed pool, the fine dining, and the (almost) anything-is-possible concierge service, the MO here is simple: check in, switch off, and live the Oberoi dream.

Hotel highlights
Wise enough to know it’s better to do less, and do it well, the hotel has just three eateries to choose from, each as impressively moreish as the next. Breakfast buffets (served in the sun-drenched Tamimt dining room or out on the terrace) are anything but beige. Later in the day, Tamimt shifts to a Mediterranean-Moroccan-Indian menu, with produce plucked from the hotel’s own gardens, and gourmet purées for tiny diners.
Poolside Azur is a casual lunch spot, Vue bar doles out signature sips and toast-worthy champagnes in its intimate interiors, but the real star of the show is Rivayat – a love letter to India’s rich culinary traditions. Our recommendation? Spring for an expedition – a six-course journey through refined flavours. You’ve got Rohit Ghai and his Michelin-starred expertise to thank for the menu.
