"We are here in Rome for 3 nights and chose this hotel for its modern vibe and great location. It’s in a really nice part of town and just a short walk from many of the main sites. It took 40 mins in a cab from the airport to get here.
Check in was really straightforward and Mauricio - who showed us to our room - was so lovely and friendly and was around during our stay for anything guests needed. Angela on reception was also really helpful especially when we realised we had forgotten a cable we needed and she gave us one to borrow.
The rooms are modern and the junior suite we stayed in (room 401) was a fantastic size for 2 adults and a teenager. Rooms this big are not common at all in city centre hotels and it would have comfortably slept 4 as there are two chaise beds. The walk in wardrobe kept bags out of the way and she shower was fab. Because the room is open plan they give you a linen screen to cover the shower when people are in it.
The breakfast room was nice and the breakfast was perfectly good and open until 1030. There is the usual continental choices and some simple hot food too. There is a bar which we only used to get drinks to take up to the room when we came back in from dinner. It wasn’t that busy but with so many places around that’s understandable. There is a large event space downstairs also and while we were here the Italian First Minister came for a press conference.
There are so many restaurants around here and our favourites were La Carbonara (recommended by one of the front desk staff) for really authentic rustic pasta that has just celebrated its 120th anniversary and Vaccinari for great pizzas and pasta which is really close to the Colusseum.
But the location is definately one of the main reasons to choose this hotel. Less than a ten minute walk to the Colusseum and to the Vittoriano, and not far at all from the Trevi Fountain and other main visitor attractions. Also great for local restaurants, cafes and gelato shops as well near the proper shops for the teenager! It also felt like a really safe neighbourhood.
The only downsides I can think of is that there must be a problem with the drains as there is a really bad smell of strong sewage at the moment, especially around the bar area and where the lifts are. Hopefully only temporary and not bad enough that it spoiled our stay at all. And the other minor irritation was that the WiFi in the room didn’t work well at all so we struggled to use devices after a long day of walking around when we chilled out before dinner. Again, not the end of the world at all but easily fixable.
Would highly recommend Rome Life Hotel and would absolutely come back. It was even better than we expected. Perfect for families or couples or a solo business traveller as there is something for everyone."
