"I booked Hotel Griso for two nights with my son, paying extra for what I expected to be a high-quality stay to celebrate the end of his exams. Unfortunately, our first night was ruined by both a malfunctioning air-conditioning system and the unprofessional behaviour of the receptionist, Marco.
From the moment we arrived, the AC in our 3rd-floor room would not cool below 23°C in hot summer weather. I reported this multiple times with no meaningful response. Eventually, I had to go to reception in person. Marco came to the room, inspected it, and told me he’d be back in five minutes — he never returned. After an hour, I went to reception again, where he threw a set of keys at me and told me to “go check other rooms” which he claimed had the same 23°C temperature. When I said it was his responsibility to give me another room, he replied there were no rooms and told me to “find another hotel.” When I asked about a refund, he said “No.” When I warned I might call the police, he laughed and told me to “call whoever you want.”
The next morning, the reception manager confirmed that the lower floors have older, less effective AC units, while floors 4 and above have newer ones. I was moved to a 4th-floor room where the AC worked perfectly at 18°C — exactly what I had needed the previous night. This completely undermines the hotel’s excuse about “eco restrictions” and shows that the solution was available all along, but deliberately withheld.
Even during checkout, Marco was on reception and took payment in full without the courtesy of an apology. The management’s follow-up email not only refused any refund for the night we suffered through, but also dismissed the problem entirely, claiming there was nothing wrong.
If you value respectful service, functioning facilities, and a hotel that actually cares about its guests, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere."
