Blue Bay Beach Resort

"We got back this morning from a 10 day stay at the Blue Bay resort, first impressions welcoming staff & nice reception area. Room-We had booked an annex room but we're given a room in main hotel as an 'upgrade' it was certainly not an upgrade! Room very small for 2 adults & 2 teens, it was dated, air con only in main room- we did complain & as it was 2.00am there wasn't anything they could until the morning. We were moved the next day to a much much bigger room in the annex (block 6) it was a better room but still needed improvement, it suited us & we were happy there 😀 Food- yes repetitive but mostly nice. We were then until it closed & the food on the last day wasn't great but in my opinion the food is what you expect for an all inclusive. Drinks were better in main bar, water park area & restaurant than the pool bar. We were able to go the Street burger restaurant & the Italian during our visit & both were lovely. (They are in the pool restaurant just made to look more fancy in the evenings) Entertainment- Artur & the team Ethan, Frederick, Amanda, Abi & co were amazing 👏 the animation team they got in for last few days weren't so good lacked the enthusiasm of the others. The mini disco & bingo are standard entertainment but good. They did bring in some outside acts mainly singers & a magician which were all very good but one critism would be they were all from a similar decade. Definitely needs some more variety to cater to all the generations 😀 Staff- all the staff were lovely & friendly especially the reception guy (not sure of name) & Alfie from the water park 😀 Pools- yes the pools are cold but that is expected this time of year. When it's 25 degrees it's nice to get in the pool 😀 sunbeds do go quickly must be awful in the summer months! That happens at nearly all hotels abroad 🤷‍♀️ Towels- They do provide pool towels but only change them evey 2 days. I assume it's to help the environment but some days it would be nice to change daily! We brought our own aswell & would recommend others do the same. Beach- it's ok, not amazing. Sea warmer than pools though. Cleanliness- the staff are always doing their best to keep the hotel clean , can't fault that. Cats- there are alot of cats so maybe don't go if you are not a cat person 🤪 We didn't use the shuttle bus service so can't comment on that. We hired a car from outside the hotel for a very reasonable price & so were able to see more of Rhodes 😄 Would we return to this hotel probably not but thats because we never go to the same hotel again. It was one of our best holidays.😄 Don't let the negative reviews put you off. I think this hotel will only get better & better as I think it is under new management who will hopefully improve the hotel."

"Rhodes is a lovely place but I would never stay at this hotel again.We were given a superior family room,it definitely was not superior.Bathroom had dirty wall and floor with chipped tiles.in bedroom broken safe door wouldn’t close.room very dated.Balcany had a wall with wooden fencing.I am in a wheelchair so couldn’t look out at our view even though some rooms had glass balcony or just a brick wall.lift was so small I had to go in it by myself.(in my wheelchair) which even then was a tight squeeze.restaurant had upper floor and has steps to go down.Lower floor was more accessible for me.They kept sitting us on the upper floor,so my family then needed to take me right round outside and back in on lower floor for me to choose and get food.and then back out and in again.we tried to ask for lower floor but they still showed us to table on upper floor.insisting there were no tables available on the lower floor,which as we looked this was not the case.food was average and very repetitive.went to indoor pool restaurant.for breakfast Little choice .fruit mainly tinned.flies on it as there were no lids.Flies even on hot food after breakfast there we no sun beds available around the main as people got up and put towels on them early morning even though sign said towels will be removed.Having to pay 3 euros for iced coffee and outside gelato you had to pay for ice creams.For what it cost to stay should be in the all inclusive.Bar staff were lovely and friendly.Overall 100% not worth the money it cost to stay there."

"The first thing I want to mention — from what I noticed — is that for some reason, most Latvian families and couples were placed in the 5000 block, where we also stayed. Unfortunately, this block is nowhere near a four-star standard. I would rate it maybe 2+ stars at best. I can’t comment on the blocks closer to the sea, but from what I saw, those probably match the 4-star level much better. Every second person we spoke to who stayed in the same block was quite dissatisfied, as the rooms were rather run-down. The bathroom was in poor condition — you had to wait for hot water, the showerhead sprayed water in all directions, and the holder was broken, so most of the water went on your legs instead of your head. The water drained very slowly, and after a proper shower, it even started flooding into the hallway. We had to use towels to stop the water from spreading into the room! It seems we all paid roughly the same price, but the room we got was definitely not worth it. You come to relax, not to run around with towels cleaning up water. Rooms like that should be given to people who come just to drink and sleep it off — not to families who are looking for comfort and a bit of peace. Ironically, it looked like those who were there to party ended up with the better rooms! The TV only showed German channels (no signal for others), and the internet was poor — you could only get a decent connection in the lounge. The sockets seemed to be installed randomly; the only logical one was near the kettle and mirror. There weren’t even any next to the bed for charging phones. On the bright side, the housekeeping staff did a great job — the trash was emptied daily, and towels were changed when needed. Now, about the food — it was absolutely delicious and enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and helpful, which really made a difference. And the hotel cats — they made the whole place feel warm and welcoming. I really hope someone will take care of them after the season ends ❤️🤞🏻 Would I return? Because of the 5000 block — no. But for the food, the staff, and the cats — yes 😀 Though of course, you never know which block you’ll end up in next time!"
