Summer Village of Hippokrates

"Really beautiful hotel in a lovely rural location. Everything was perfect apart from one small observation....one of the bar staff had a real problem with me. He wouldn't even look at me turning his head away and slamming the drinks down on the bar. It was so unfathomable as the only interaction we had was 'please could I have?' And 'thank you'. When I approached the bar I'd greet him but he wouldn't reply just stare at me. He wouldn't ask what I wanted and as I say not even look at me. On one occasion I asked for a drink, he poured it,turned away from me and slammed it down. I'm not sure whether it was xenophobia or misogyny? They are the two options that come to mind. Maybe both?"

"Location - This hotel is in a very quiet area and the walk to the beach is more like 15-20 minutes than the 5 minutes advertised when we booked. It is an easy walk though, all flat roads. There are a few restaurants and bars in the local area but not much. We found somewhere to watch sport and grab some food one night. Atmosphere - The general feel of the hotel is peaceful and quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed chilling out by the pool, reading in peace with no intrusive music or noisy people. Room - We stayed in a deluxe double which was medium sized and very clean. The bathroom is poorly designed. If you use the waterfall shower you are likely to soak the toilet so best to use the small handheld shower head. It was lovely to have the pool right outside the back door. We had to move our sunbeds round to the side of the pool to sit in the sun as our patio didn't get any but nobody minded, there's plenty of space. Cleanliness - The cleaning staff were brilliant and greeted us with a "kalimera" every morning and even bought us towels for a shower on our last day because she knew we were checking out at 5pm which was very sweet of her. They kept the place spotless! They are a credit to the hotel. In fact, I couldn't fault any of the staff. Every one was helpful and polite. Food - Sadly, the food let this hotel down for me and will be the reason I wouldn't return. I am vegetarian and I have stayed in many all inclusive hotels. I can usually make a meal from what is on offer but I found myself eating salad, rice and chips every day for lunch and dinner due to the lack choice offered to me. Most nights there was some cooked pasta with two types of topping but both toppings were not vegetarian friendly so I went over to the cold section and put some pasta from there on my plate and it had chicken in it. Thats 3 ways to have pasta and none were vegetarian friendly, and yet there were ample meat options. My husband does eat meat and although there was far more choice for him he was equally as unimpressed because nothing was really good. It just filled a hole. The bread was stale at breakfast too and the toaster was poor. The croissants and pastries were good though and there was plenty of fruit. There needs to be a station for filling up water bottles. There is one in the restaurant but you aren't supposed to use it to fill bottles up with but I did. It seemed very silly to go to the bar to get a glass of water to clumsily pour it into a bottle when the machine is right there. All of the AI hotels I have stayed in have a water bottle station and this would be a good idea here. Entertainment - There was a singer on one of the nights which was quite nice but I went with the assumption that there wasn't any entertainment and it didnt bother me either way. In summary, if you want a lively hotel with entertainment and lots to do in the local area then its not for you. If you are looking for a total relax and you aren't too fussy about food (especially if you're vegetarian) then you will enjoy it."

"Out of all the holidays over the past twenty six years, Summer village Hippocrates has to be the best hotel that we have stayed at! So much attention to detail with the cleaning being to a very high standard! The staff are all really friendly and always helpful. There was a good range of food if you like meat or fish, but we are vegetarians and at the start of our stay, there was really mostly just salad or lovely well cooked Aubergines (my favourite) I did mention a couple of times that we were veggie and there was an effort made to include some hot vegetarian option such as vegetable pie pasta with cheese sauce that you could ladle over it. The rooms all had pools that was shared by a maximum of around twenty people as there were lots of pools for this purpose and it was fantastic. The other guests when we were there were mostly German or Polish but all lovely. I also booked a massage which was fantastic by a lovely young lady called Lina, and I would definitely reccomend her.❤ There is a place across the road that hires beach buggies ect. The hotel is in a quiet area do this is a good idea , but there is a bus service approx three hundred meters away that takes you to Kos town. This is a family run hotel and they are very lovely hard working people that will do everything to make your stay the best. I fully intend to book for next year. Another highlight for us us that it is an ADULTS ONLY hotel which was really important to us. Our kids are all vrown up so just wanted the atmosphere to be for grownups.🙂"
