Lumen Paris Louvre

"I booked this hotel through Eurostar. It's billed as a 4-star, luxury, boutique hotel. At over £300 for the the night, I was expecting high things from Hotel Lumen. Well, my experience was something quite different. Aside from what one usually expects from a Parisian hotel- Small rooms, tiny lifts, so called 'Amenities', squashed in together in minute form, etc.... This hotel has some paper thin walls, as I found out as the guest in the next rooms was playing loudly, a mixture of television and music until 1am. Also present was the noise of every motorbike and van in the Avenue des Pyramides. What was also surprising was that, apart from two small wall lamps behind the bed, every other light in the bedroom, small corridor and bathroom were not working. This left most of the room in total darkness. Hence, I had to wait until daybreak to take a shower, and I had to shave using the torchlight from my smartphone as it was a grey, cloudy day outside. The breakfast was basic, served without a smile. To be honest, I've had better in the staff canteen where I work. After only four hours sleep, honestly my stay here seriously affected my plans for the following day. And as for the reply from Eurostar when I complained? After ten days of waiting, a condescending and insincere "Thank you for your feedback", and "We will pass your views on to the relevant parties". On the upside, the concierge was polite and the location is indeed brilliant. But I wouldn't stay here again if you paid me."

"Unbeatable location, close to the Louvre and beautiful parks. Room was tiny, but make sure you ask for one on a high floor, at the front, with balcony and you'll have a great view onto the streets of Paris. Welcoming service, the chap on the front desk was very helpful. Price-wise it's ok ... not cheap, but for this location and city it was pretty good."
