Porlamar Apartments

"This was a last minute booking for myself & a friend we were aware of the 2* rating but after reading the great reviews we decided to book.This was our 3rd holiday "last minute booking" of the year & it was the most expensive! After a really long day travelling we arrived at Polamar just before midnight,everything was in darkness there was a contact number on the door.The guy arrived,took our passport details,told us our room no' & advised we would have to pay the tourist tax when the reception was open the following morning!!He begrudgingly carried our suitcases to the room!!Entering the room it was absolutely stifling & smelt really musty!!There was 1 stand up fan blowing warm air around the bedroom!! The apartment was small,basic & in need of some TLC!!Cleanliness was just "ok",beds were comfortable.Balcony which was a good size, we didnt have the best of views though unless we stood up 😂. We were never once given a "welcome" upon arrival or throughout the rest of our stay. The pool area, it consisted of a bar area,sunloungers,chairs & tables,small pool & showers all in a very small area,oh yea & a "smokers corner" as you were not able to smoke around the rest of the facilties including the bar!! The sunloungers were old & really uncomfortable I'd advise a lilo as the mattress,constant "sunbed" wars,where towels were being left overnight!!! We didn't eat or drink at the bar it was S/C & we done our own thing (we don't drink alcohol),I found aslong as you were putting money over the bar you became the "favourites"!It seemed day time drinking was much the vibe at these apartments!! We requested a late checkout the day before our departure to be told "ask in the morning" of which we did & we were told "NO"!!My friend also approached the "happy" lady & was told she would get back to us later morning.5 minutes before checkout time (we were by the pool) the "happy" lady came across put her hand out & said "key"& tourist tax!! She basically called my friend a liar!! We used the courtesy shower room before leaving,the doors were hanging off,towels were grimy & threadbare & the shower had no power whatsoever!! Location is not suitable for the less mobile,& all the steps at apartments are also not suitable for the less mobile! There wasn't a "happy,holiday" atmosphere/vibe at these apartments atall!! The highlight of our holiday was a day/evening spent @Puerto de Mogan such a beautiful place ❤️ I'm baffled at the reviews we read before booking this holiday 🤔!! (Each to their own I suppose) Never again!!!!Not even if it was a free holiday!!!"

"We were quite comfortable in Porlamar. The apartment was simple, but for spending our vacation, we had everything we needed. In the mornings we would go out to explore the island and, upon returning, it was nice to be able to rest for a while and enjoy the views of the harbor. It was also very convenient for us to have bars, restaurants, and shops nearby, because many times we would go out for a walk without having any plans. In general, we were comfortable and thought it was a good place to spend a few quiet days without spending too much."

"Absolutely love this place - we laid round the pool most days and Timo and Nadia who run the bar were wonderful - keeping it spotless and looking after us so well - the rooms are perfect for our needs and the view is lovely - love the pool area and we’re so lucky to get room 113 right next to it - getting older but hope we manage to get back a couple of times next year as love the restaurants that are in walking distance - perfect location for us - a gem 💕💕"
