"Don’t be put off by the bad reviews — we had a fabulous stay!
I have to admit, I was really sceptical after reading some of the negative reviews, but I honestly couldn’t disagree more. We have had a fabulous time at this hotel and would definitely recommend it.
We were greeted with a lovely glass of bubbly on arrival, and our room was ready at 12 noon, which was fantastic as check-in wasn’t officially until 3pm.
We had booked a “My Favourite Club Suite” and were given a tour of all the areas we could access with our special VIP wristbands. It was such a lovely start to our stay and made us feel very welcome.
When we arrived at our suite (#1002), we were incredibly impressed — it was huge! It had everything you could need, including robes and slippers, a coffee machine, complimentary toiletries, a free-to-use safe and pool towels. There was even a personalised card welcoming us, which was a lovely touch.
The fridge was stocked with complimentary soft drinks, beer, wine and water, which was a real bonus. The view from the balcony was incredible. We were on the 10th floor overlooking the sea and pool, with the mountains in the distance. The sunsets were particularly beautiful.
Our room was cleaned meticulously every day and the air conditioning was excellent — absolutely no complaints. On our final day we received another lovely card and a little treat, which was such a thoughtful touch.
The only slight disappointment was that we couldn’t have a late checkout, which would normally have been available to suite guests. Unfortunately, the hotel was fully booked, so we had to check out at 12 noon rather than 2pm. Completely understandable, but it would have been lovely to have those extra couple of hours.
My Favourite Club
One of our VIP privileges was access to the My Favourite Club lounge, which we used every day. You could help yourself to drinks from the fridge, coffee, wine and bubbles, as well as lots of little snacks. The terrace had beautiful views and the seating was really comfortable. It was a lovely, peaceful place to escape to when you wanted a bit of quiet.
For us, the best part of the VIP package was the private sunbed area. It was so much quieter than the main pool and had incredible views. There were sunbeds, sofas and comfortable chairs, so you could relax however you wanted.
The main pool could be quite crowded and noisy, whereas this area was wonderfully tranquil and, for us, really made the holiday. We never had to worry about reserving a sunbed — there always seemed to be plenty available.
Food & drinks
The food was fine rather than outstanding, but we always found something we enjoyed at each mealtime. We didn’t really use the snack bar, although there was always something available if you wanted it.
The all-inclusive drinks are mainly local branded spirits, but they were perfectly fine for us. Around the pool you are given tokens for a reusable cup, which is replaced whenever you get another drink. I thought this was a great idea — it reduces disposable plastic and also stops the pool area becoming covered in abandoned cups. In the evenings, proper glasses are provided.
The Mokka Café is the only venue that isn’t included in the all-inclusive package, but we really enjoyed it. Our VIP package included a voucher for coffee and cake, which was delicious. We went back the following day for a crepe, which was fantastic and only €4. We were also able to take our all-inclusive drinks with us, so it was a very inexpensive treat!
Entertainment & spa
The entertainment was probably the weakest part for us. It was quite loud and, personally, we preferred sitting on the terrace of the My Favourite Club lounge, where it was lovely and peaceful. That said, it’s great that the hotel offers entertainment for those who want it.
We also took advantage of a great couples’ massage deal — €78 for 25 minutes for two people. We chose to have ours outside under the pergola overlooking the sea. The setting was idyllic, with lovely chilled music and a really relaxing massage. I would definitely recommend it!
The beach & location
The beach is a bit of a trek, but we absolutely loved the little cove just a few minutes’ walk away. Be warned, it is very steep, but it was well worth the effort.
We spent time swimming and snorkelling there and were amazed by the variety of fish we saw. The views of the water, cliffs and little coves are absolutely stunning. The hotel is in a really beautiful location.
Overall
All in all, don’t be put off by the negative reviews. I’m quite a fussy traveller and, in my opinion, this is a very good Spanish 4-star hotel with recently refurbished facilities.
We had a genuinely lovely stay and would happily return. If you’re considering booking, I wouldn’t hesitate. And if your budget allows, I would definitely recommend upgrading to a My Favourite Club Suite — the extra space, private sunbeds and lounge access really made our stay special.
Thank you to all the staff for making our stay such a lovely one. We’d definitely recommend this hotel!"
