"Just back from a week at the beautiful, tranquil, Marina Suites and already booked for next year. This was, I think, our 8th stay here and it's so good, next year we're bringing along our Sons and their young families - 6 adults, 3 kids, counting down the days already.
If it's loud, party central and sleepless you seek, the Marina Suites is not for you.
Immaculately clean, very, very well appointed, touches of luxury, peace, very child friendly with polite, professional and friendly staff who look to enjoy their work and go out of their way to give you a great holiday.
I know I have previously gone to great length to detail all the things that are great about this place but I'll summarise the high notes again.
Great shape of building; the hollow 'cooling tower' design ensures that, along with the aircon, no matter how hot it is outside, the bedrooms at the back of the apartments stay wonderfully cool. The beds are very comfortable with great pillows and bedding. There is ample open hanging space for everyone with a wardrobe and modern personal safe which is secured for a small additional daily charge. The decor is minimalist/modern and has a great mariner theme followed throughout.
The very spacious bathroom is fitted in marble with lovely fittings, shelf space, powerful shower and fitted hairdryer.
The open plan living room and kitchenette opens onto the balcony that has a dining table and chairs.
The kitchenette has absolutely everything* you would need to cook fresh meals from 'scratch' so anyone on a budget can shop locally and fend very comfortably for themselves 'in room'.
*2 ring hob, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, fridge, pots pans, utensils, scissors, kfs, plates, cups and, and....
There is even a two seat breakfast bar adjoining the kitchenette.
The 'living room' area has an expansive shelf along one side, a tv unit (tv with a selection of channels for most tastes and languages) and a sofa bed and armchair, both very comfortable.
The balcony will either overlook the pool area or marina if you are high enough and then the Atlantic beyond. The location of the hotel by the marina is tucked away enough to ensure the noise and bustle of Puerto Rico doesn't disturb anyone's sleep.
Breakfast is wonderful; served from 0730-1100 at the poolside area. A selection of everything from English cooked breakfast elements, eggs, omlettes etc cooked to order, fresh fruit, vegetables, danish pastries, fresh rolls, cold cuts, cheeses, jams, cereals, figs, dates, nuts, fresh juice, fresh coffee and, and...
The poolside bar serves drinks throughout the day, a cold pint, a cocktail along with tasty bar meals.
The pool area is a gem with a main infinity pool, a shallower side pool for the younger ones or weaker swimners and a splash pool for toddlers with a sloping surround for safety that makes it more like a 'big puddle' strictly for toddlers and parents. There's ample loungers and parasols with side tables if a 'toes by the pool' day is your desire.
Locally, you are far enough away to keep the noise of Puerto Rico at bay but a 5 min walk takes you to the marina and water taxi/glass bottom ferry to the other small villages along the coast; a few minutes further walk and you are at the golden sanded beach. 5 mins more and you are at the beginning of the main shopping and recreational area of the Port Base. Two shopping malls, loads of bars and restaurants and something for everyone.
5 mins walk from the hotel to the Northeast, through the road tunnel is a nearby Dinomarket (like a spar or lidl with a bit of everything including in store freshly baked goods). Adjacent there is an Irish bar and a great selection of well established restaurants offering everything from paella to pork schnitzels with top class chinese, pizza and steaks in between. Even closer to the hotel is a great Indian restaurant, the Taj Palace and for paella by the shore, we strongly recommend the Bahia Playa, book a table down by the shoreside, great food in unique surroundings.
In summary, if you want comfort, peace, a touch of luxury and great service, the Marina Suites will deliver. Great location, great staff and we will keep coming back for more.
