"Great little boutique style hotel, with so many little extras. Location is great in a quiet side street. Near to 3 different metro stations, all within 5-10 minutes walk. Within a 10 minute walk of the Moulin Rouge and Montmartre area. Lots of cafes and restaurants within a 3-5 minutes walk. Small shop around the corner which sells drinks, fruit, crisps and snacks. The rooms are a decent size and the room we had on the 5th floor overlooked the rooftops of Paris. The air conditioning was great in the room too, especially as we were there at the beginning of the heat wave. The beds were very comfy and we got a good nights sleep. The room has a small fridge, which was stocked with water, apple juice and pepsi, all of which were free of charge. We were welcomed with a lovely tote bag and water bottle, along with some chocolate and sweets. A nice little welcome. As it was my birthday while I was there, I came back in the afternoon to a lovely tray with a half bottle of champagne, and a dish of pretzels and crackers, along with a lovely Happy Birthday note and another tote bag. A really lovely touch and made my day. The bathroom had a shower over the bath, and there was hair and body wash in the shower, as well as hand wash by the sink. There were tissue and a hairdryer as well, but no other extras. This was fine for me as I take my own stuff anyway. There was a free safe in the wardrobe, and plenty of storage space. There was even a long mirror with a plug beside it, great for drying/ straightening hair or putting on make up. There was also tea/coffee and a kettle in the room too. There wasn't any drawers anywhere, but we managed with the shelves in the wardrobe.
The lift is not for those of you who are claustrophobic ! Its tiny. We did fit 4 people into one day and we were all in a row, as it literally is the width of 1 person. But we managed and just laughed about it.
All the staff were lovely and friendly. They all spoke and said good morning etc and were always on hand to help. One of the lovely receptionists even found me some pain killers one night. They even arranged breakfast in bed for me for my birthday at no extra charge.
The breakfast is taken downstairs in a conservatory style area. We always found something to eat every day. Croissants, french toast, crepes, fruit, yogurts, hams, cheese, salad, and even two hot plates, with Quiches, bacon, sausages, potatoes, omelette style eggs. The quiche was delicious. There were juices, water and a kettle for tea, and a coffee machine as well. Plenty of nutella, jams etc too. It wasn't a huge buffet, but plenty of choice to start your day with.
During the day from 2pm - 2am, in the same area they have complimentary drinks and snacks. Biscuits, cakes, fruit, nuts, soft drinks and teas and coffees were all free to help yourself. A really lovely touch. If you are staying in any of the Astotel Hotels, you can also go into any Astotel and enjoy their free hospitality, which is a really nice touch too.
We had a great stay at the Joyce hotel, couldn't fault anything at all. The rooms were cleaned daily, fresh towels, staff were all lovely and we had a really great stay. It has some very quirky features too, like the reception desk made from Eiffel towers, and the seats in the breakfast area made from car seats. I would definitely stay here again if I came back to Paris.
Some places we visited this time ( my 3rd visit ) which aren't usually on peoples list, but were really worth visiting. Hotel De la Marine Museum on the Place de La Concorde, Napoleon's Apartments at the Louvre, Luxembourg Gardens, Ballon Generali Paris at the Parc Andre Citroen, The Statue of Liberty, ( yes there is one in Paris too, but a lot smaller ) Petis Palace and The Train Bleu restaurant.
Paris is an amazing city and I hope you love it as much as I do. Enjoy your stay at The Astotel Joyce."
