"I have thought long and hard on this review following our holiday, as I feel it only right to be honest.
I would like to point out positives before I move on to some unfortunate negatives.
Staff: an absolute assett to this place. Cleaners, bar staff, chefs, management. All amazing. All such hard workers. Treated disrespectfully by some guests during our stay but were always professional and a pleasure to speak to.
Entertainment team: Those ladies (and their gentleman DJ) sure do put in a shift! We actually really enjoyed the shows. Having had some poor experiences with hotel entertainment in the past elsewhere i was apprehensive, but they are all super talented. They also run the kids club and my child loved attending this, they really are a gorgeous bunch and deserve a lot of praise. I also liked the quizzes during the day even though I was terrible at them.
The shuttle bus is fab and he even dropped us off at the Dr's one day when we had to visit as it was on the route back which we were extremely grateful for!
We saw some cute cats who all seem very happy on site, as well as Preying Mantis and a few little lizards. We quite like our wildlife so for us this was a positive not a negative.
Now for things we weren't so keen on...
Upon arrival, we were taken up to our room (right at the top of the complex) we had a one bedroom with childs bed in the living room. The room itself was a good sized space, however as other reviews will state the rooms are in dire need of improvement. Shower screen leaked, broken furniture which you can see has been temporarily repaired, flaking paintwork and outdated fixtures and fittings. Air con worked well, beds were comfy. White 'ikea' style chest of draws in main living area extremely dangerous (not anchored to the walls) and this did actually tip onto my husband on 2 occasions. Had this been a child, I dread to think. We also experience ants in our room every few days despite not leaving any open food out. We couldn't really tell where they were getting in, and having already reported several other issues to the front desk I didn't want to waste any more time on my holiday reporting it. We also experience issues with other guest behaviour during our stay, small children running amok in the buffet, fingers in food etc. As well as rudeness from adults who treated guests and staff appallingly. Guests walking around the buffet with tops off, no shoes on. I was also witness to an unpleasant encounter between 2 guests in the adult pool, whereby 2 adults had allowed their many children to treat it as a splash pool. Understandably frustrated the guest asked them to leave and was met by threats and abuse. Staff did intervene eventually but it was just laughed off as a joke and the guest who had spoken up was just told 'they are cypriot'. Like that made it OK! Other guests behaviour also made the main pool unbearable to be at, leaving food all over the floor, eating in the pool and not following the rules around the slides, as well as not allowing others a turn on the slides as there is only a few floaties and matts.
I do think the staff perhaps need to be a bit firmer on guests behaving badly. I felt a lot of the time it was laughed off, but I spoke to a few holidaymakers who said it impacted their stay and the general atmosphere. I feel it got worse during the 2nd week of our stay. We spent most of our 2nd week down by the pool near reception, we went out to the beach and on a boat trip. We just didn't feel comfortable using the activity pool and at the end of the day we were also paying customers and should not have felt like we couldn't.
I'm 50/50 on if we would return. We had a nice time on holiday but I felt our 2nd week left us feeling a bit unsure about returning."
