The Argyll Hotel

"We felt the photos didn't quite accurately fit the hotel outside or rooms. The rooms felt very compact, and the walls were so thin. You could hear everything. Wasn't a very well rested night. It was somewhere to sleep but wouldn't stay again."

"Fantastic location for Finnieston and the West End. Lots of Restaurants/bars nearby, Kelvin grove Art Galleries and a short walk to The Hydro or to Ashton Lane. Lovely welcome from member of staff on reception. car park that you might get a space in if you check in as soon as you can. Car was secure as they have CCTV there and in the hotel. Our room was located at the back of the hotel and was a decent size and clean. They are a traditional style in keeping with the building. Very comfy bed with nice bed linen. We slept like a baby and had no concerns with noise. Breakfast was great, what a selection of hot and cold food, creaks, pastries. We had a hot breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed everything except for the sausages. The staff in the breakfast room were excellent and we had a lovely chat with one of the ladies . I'm sorry I didn't get her name (she had blond hair) and is a complete asset to their team. Even when rushed off her feet she still made conversation and went that extra mile to ensure you had everything you needed. Thank you 😊"

"The good: location to university, 20/30 mins walkable to center city, 10 mins to train (not tube), and decent restos around. The so-so: breakfast is your classic British w baked beans, so-so selection, machine coffee. Better bfast around the corner. The bad: no sleep for four night dues to - noisy leaky toilet they couldn’t figure out, so I fixed; classic British thin windows, so noisy traffic outside and pub downstairs w noisy drunk patrons shout-talking well past closing; incredibly rude internal patrons slamming doors as little kids allowed to run b/w rooms til after 3am. I had to go down to the front desk and ask them to get it to stop, which they couldn’t do. So we had to repack as they moved us to another room. We passed out for the fifth night, and slept for most of it before catching our plane out in the morning. End of the day, nice people don’t make up for a bad venue. Would not stay here again."
