"Great location, close to Princes Street and one street away from an Airlink bus stop, convenient.
Modern-looking hotel, but reception poorly placed and poorly organized. A very small space, which forces people to wait in line while blocking the hotel entrance/exit. Nice to have to push your way through to get around...
Kiosks not functional for most people, but that is the case in all Premier Inn hubs.
Unfriendly staff at the front desk and the bar. Unhelpful/bad faith, for example: won't help to see if the housekeeper might have come across a lost hat... (just goes to ask their colleague over a walkie-talkie).
Out of all the staff we met, only 3 (including the housekeeper, who was very nice) were decent out of 7. Watching you when you go to get a hot drink, that, they manage to do. But on the other hand, taking care of us when we arrive in the \"dining room\" even though there are 3 of them, no, they shouldn't have to move... Only one came after we waited a good 5-10 minutes and even then, you can tell we are bothering them.
As for the space dedicated to breakfast, we are glad we didn't get it. As specified on the site, they only do \"continental\". Meaning only sweet items (no cold cuts, cheese, sausage, eggs, etc.). Except the selection is pathetic. Not much on offer: a few muffins, only one type of bread, a few thawed pastries... Plus, there is even less presented than at a London hub (even just the sweet part)!
Only one coffee machine for the whole hotel, are you serious?!
The elevator?! Someone should probably take care of it! At no point did it display which floor we were on. Which caused problems several times and is very anxiety-inducing (fear that the elevator would break down on us).
Besides, everyone we ran into (including us) didn't get any explanation for floors 4+/5+ (which only have 1 out of 2 elevators that go to them).
Any explanation for entering and exiting the main floor hallways?! We are still waiting for it. The first 2 days of our stay, everything was always open. And after the fire drill, the main doors (in the middle) to access the hallway remained closed. So we went through the side doors. I notified the front desk and I was told "we'll take care of it." Except that in the evening, it was still the same. It wasn't until the next morning that I saw a "card reader" on the side where you just had to swipe the room card and it opened, a miracle!
As for the room, luckily, we got a large "bigger room." Really enough space to open 2 large suitcases and to move around freely.
A bit of a shame that a little space wasn't given to the bathroom, which remains cramped. 1 European outlet, 1 English one.
No curtains or shutters, but a single blackout blind for the 2 windows. Not really a view, but no worries for us.
Knowing the insulation problem in the UK, we were pleasantly surprised not to hear noises coming from outside (especially knowing that we are surrounded by pubs and restaurants)!
Unfortunately, the interior noise, on the other hand, was clearly heard (doors slamming, neighbors talking loudly, etc.).
Functional A/C. But it was full of dust inside (to the point that it looked like stalagmites with white flakes) and it was leaking down the door.
Shower with hot water ok but with very low flow, you will spend a long time in the shower if you have thick hair (even after having it thinned out).
The operation of the switch between the shower head and the hand shower needs to be reviewed. It switches too quickly and suddenly to one or the other, to the point that we were surprised several times with cold water...
Except that the sink and shower had rust & mold. Not to mention the bathroom tile that was coming loose all on its own o.O!
Large amount of dust on the top of the bed.
You can tell that everything was designed for people allergic to dust and mold (more and more people these days)!
Comfortable bed. Storage consistent with the Hubs. Above the bed, as with the other Hubs, a small city map.
For 2 people, an extra hook wouldn't be too much. Same for a 2nd armchair, or why not put in a 2-seater sofa? Also missing another trash can, or why not put in a larger one? For 2 people, it fills up quickly...
TV with no movies offered, unlike the other hubs, with video quality that varies greatly depending on the selected channel.
Wi-Fi is fairly stable, it only dropped once.
Paid too much for what we received."
