"I stayed here for two nights on a work trip with two colleagues, and we were all impressed with the hotel. Our rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. My room on the fifth floor had a lovely view overlooking the green space next to the historic building, which was a nice bonus.
The complimentary bottles of water and KitKats in the fridge were a thoughtful touch, and I also appreciated having an espresso machine, along with a generous selection of tea and coffee. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I slept very well. Breakfast offered an excellent choice of hot and cold options, with something to suit everyone.
The hotel's location is another major advantage. It's within easy walking distance of the bus station and city centre, with plenty of restaurants and pubs nearby. The bar was comfortable and the staff throughout the hotel were friendly and welcoming.
My only minor criticisms are that check-in took quite a while because we arrived at the same time as a large tour group, resulting in a long queue. In addition, there were a few stains on the bedroom carpet and some small patches of mould in the bathroom grout. Neither issue spoiled my stay, but they are signs that the hotel should keep a close eye on its housekeeping standards to maintain the high quality expected.
One aspect I wasn't keen on was the refillable bathroom toiletries. While I understand that they are more environmentally friendly and help reduce single-use plastic, I personally prefer individually sealed toiletries. Sealed bottles provide reassurance that the contents haven't been contaminated or tampered with by previous guests, giving greater confidence in their hygiene. Fortunately, I had brought my own toiletries with me.
Overall, this was a very enjoyable stay. The spacious, comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast, convenient location and friendly staff far outweighed the few minor issues. I would happily stay here again on a future visit."
