"We’ve just Returned from a 10 Night Stay at Hotel Lacio, Hammamet where we were on a Couples Holiday and found it to be a very pleasant and enjoyable Establishment that met our expectations well,
Before Travelling and as per usual when reading 'Reviews' we had read a number of mixed ones:
Food Quality,
Cleanliness,
Staff Attitudes,
Etc.
However,
From our own Experience and without being disrespectful to other 'Reviewers',
From a Personal 'Stand-Point' we found that their Experience was not Ours and Honestly?:
Many of these Criticisms felt exaggerated...
Was everything absolutely perfect?… No!!,
However for Transparency I feel it is important to approach the Hotel with some realistic expectations and an understanding of what:
'African 5 Star' generally means as opposed to luxury Hotels in the UK, Europe, USA etc.,
If you think of Lacio as more a very good quality 3-Star Hotel -
Then by those Standards?:
You will probably arrive with the right Mindset and enjoy your Stay much more!!...
So MY ‘Review’?…
Hotel / Room?,
It's a fairly big Complex with a massive Reception Area and the Rooms whilst a bit 'Dated' were Spacious, Comfortable and Ours was Cleaned on every Day of our Stay -
So,
No complaints about anything there!!,
Staff?,
We found the Staff throughout the Hotel Lacio to be consistently Friendly, Polite and Approachable…
Yes!!,
I am not naive and familiar with many Resorts in African Destinations so DO know Staff naturally look for and appreciate 'Tips' but equally several Employees here genuinely went 'Above and Beyond' regardless!! -
Taking time to help, Chat and ensure we as Guests were comfortable….ENGLISH….
Pool Areas / Animation’ Team?,
We found the Pool Areas to also be a Positive! -
There's a few of them and with it still only being Early to Mid-May during our Visit We found there was plenty of Space available around these ,
There was a good atmosphere during the Day and a decent number of Sunbeds at the Pool that We preferred:
A little Travellers Guide?,
A small ‘Tip’ to the Friendly and ‘Chatty’ Pool Manager certainly helps if you would like excellent Service,
Such as:
Your Sunbed’s being Reserved, Positioned and already set out for your Arrival at an Area of your choice -
All done on a Daily basis!!,
Again,
The Staff working in this Area were very Congenial, Pretty Good and often brought your Drinks over to where you were ‘Lazing’!! - Top Service!!:-)
Although we did not Personally participate in many of the organised Activities:
The Animation Team deserves a special mention as every Member we encountered was Friendly, Engaging, Enthusiastic and they genuinely made an effort to speak with Guests and create a welcoming atmosphere around the Resort.
Internet?,
At the Poolside and throughout the Hotel in general as well as our Room which was on the 4th Floor - The Wi-Fi Signal was probably the strongest we've ever had Abroad!!,
Food?,
The Food was decent Overall….Buffet -Style as per all other Hotels doing All-Inclusive!!,
There’s a small argument the fresh Fruit Offerings could have been a bit better and the Menu could possibly feel somewhat Repetitive at times during a 10-day Stay but that is certainly no different to any other places we have been on Holiday and there was always plenty of Choice available at every Meal ‘Serving’ :
Certainly more than enough Variety to ensure that No-One was EVER going to go hungry…
So,
It's somewhat unbelievable to Me to read in other Reviews that some People:
‘Couldn’t find ANYTHING to eat’!?,
Although...
** In regard to Dining?...
One main Criticism I would have and feel the Hotel could do far better at was the constant Lack of Serving Utensils in the Main Restaurant where there seemed precious little of those available and having to use the same Spoons for various Salad types or same pair of Tongs for Meats / Cheeses etc. was pretty poor I thought! **
We are not 'Snobs' by any means but we do have fairly High Standards when Travelling and the Utensils issue aside we felt the Hotel comfortably met our needs for the Price-Point and Destination.
Therefore - Overall?,
We feel Hotel Lacio, Hammamet delivered a Relaxing and Enjoyable Couple’s Holiday for us as it's ideally situated near to the Marina’s Cafés and Restaurants…
And…
It’s around a 5 minute Walk to the Central / Main Area of Bars and more Restaurants which stay open till the early hours -
Midnight / One O’Clock did Us most Nights then we strolled back to Hotel Lacio which is just far enough away from the Main ‘Hub-Bub’ -
(Unlike other Hotels in that Locality!)…
So,
As not to be disturbed by the very late night Music playing in the Centre…
In conclusion?,
Yup!…
We’d stay here again if returning to Hammamet,
And
Whilst Hotel Lacio may not suit People who are expecting Ultra-Luxury International Standards -
If you DO arrive here with Realistic expectations,
Appreciate the local Culture and understand the Setting,
You will find this Hotel offers really good Value, Friendly People and a very enjoyable Holiday experience!!."
